I'm sure I'm not the only one who can have fun with the Universe Sandbox.  The little Death Star and Endor scenario was a particularly nice touch.

So, for a guy who has had no previous AC experience, how should I try to get in to AC4?

I haven't even started Armored Core 4 yet so my only knowledge of it comes straight from the list of features and brief conversations with friends.  Sounds like 4 is a little more user friendly than the others are, but I'd have to play it to make an accurate judgement call.

I played a few minutes into Grandia III, to see if I might enjoy it or something, and all I could think was "I should be playing Skies of Arcadia, instead".

After beating Live A Live, I can see why it never made it stateside.  Or at least, I can see some of the reasons why it never made it stateside.

Completed OT Mode in Dead Rising.

Achievements needed: Saint, 5/7 Day Survivor, and a few others, the others only needing maybe an hour of dorking around in the mall to take care of.

So somewhere in the middle of playing Deus Ex I took a wrong turn and started playing Tomb Raider Legend instead.  It's the first time I've ever played Tomb Raider.  Right now I'm stuck at the part where Lara's riding around the rooftops of Japan on a stolen motorcyle with nothing on but a torn cocktail dress.  Not that there's anything hard about that part, it's just that I don't think they're ever going to top that.

Or Dragon Quest VIII. Or Megaman Legends. Or, hell, even Grandia I or II.

Actually, LAL is remarkably boring for a game that changes its approach every few hours; there's a lot of shit that you will never, ever figure out without a guide; a lot of fights tend to get rather tedious after having to slog through them several dozen times; some token effort is made most of the time to implement some sort of plot or characterization, with a spectacular degree of failure; and the final boss is some guy who had a bad day that sailed right past "tragic" into "so contrived it's kind of funny" territory and decided to take it out on seven completely unrelated people.

You know how in Twins, Arnold Schwarzenegger's character got all the good genes and Danny DiVito's got all the shit?  It's like that, only with Final Fantasy 6.

Also FF4.

...and 5.

...and Secret of Mana.

...and Secret of Evermore.

...and Front Mission.  But hey, at least you can see enemies on the map before you OH WAIT A SECOND they drop that in the final part of the game to stay true to the "console RPG aesthetic."  Heh heh, whoops. :nyoro-n:

I was about to ask why anyone would hate themselves as much as I do and play Grandia 3.

After I beat it, I realized I'd probably lost like ten years of my life by slogging through it like the gaming masochist I am.

Apparently, supplies of Diablo II have dried up around here, which isn't surprising. What baffled me is that every place I looked for it, they had at least one Starcraft Battle Chest. Likewise for World of Warcraft. Looks like I'm stuck with Morrowind, Dungeon Keeper and Quake II for a little while.

It seems that, for me, this thread is "Babble about a video game you aren't playing."

Man, Monkey Ball on iPhone is hard.  I think I'm getting used to it, though.

Also I learned that if someone calls you in the middle of a game, it drops you back out to the title screen instead of pausing/resuming, and so you have to clear back to wherever you were in the 10 level set if you're playing the main game.  gg sega.

after leading my herd of cats through t4 and t5 raid content, we finally managed to put down lady vashj after three weeks and something to the tune of 45 wipes trying.

We entered phase 3 with 23 people up and two elemental debuffs on vashj herself. During the course of phase 3 we managed to lose 17-18 people. Loot was triple defender, which I guess would be the bc equivelant of double stormrage. At least our feral tank got his hat.
