I'm of the opinion that unless you're using a third party program to hack, you can not cheat in a single-player game.  In multiplayer, exploits like what you described are usually not examples of systems working As Intended.  But as long as you're the only one who cares, go all out.

In Oblivion, they streamlined this by giving you a Difficulty slider.  At the easiest setting, I was able to defeat the entire Arena nude and unarmed.

Elder Scrolls games want you to cheat.  They tell you this by completely screwing you over if you attempt to play the game in any sort of normal manner.  Once you start dicking around and doing the unexpected, the game heaps rewards upon you.

See also: any game that takes place in Ivalice, and, really, any other faux-sandbox game.  GTA does the same thing - kills you a bunch in a direct firefight or street race, but gets really simple if you do strange things with dildos and motorcycles.

I always wondered if that bug where you pause during a Vigilante mission, and as soon as you unpause the guy pulls over and gets out, was intentional.

Let me clarify.  If you're bragging about getting 999,999 points on super ultimate asskicker mode, you should mention that you used a code to do it.

I saved-reloaded to get 4 million bucks from the casino in GTA:SA.  Am I a cheater?  Some people might think so.  Who does it affect?  Just me, and I don't care.

It's different if you're playing CounterStrike and you instant-kill headshot through walls and fly and shit like that.  That's cheating.

(It is also not cheating if you masturbate while thinking about Christian Bale uh a female celebrity)

And this is why i can't stand the Elder Scrolls games, and Bethesda in general -- i can't decide if they think they're being clever, or they're just wildly incompetent idiots with an udeservedly loyal fanbase.

ha ha, just kidding! They're retards, just take a look at any animation in either morrowind or the elder scrolls.

So are shadows.

I honestly think those games are fun if you don't take them seriously.  Does that mean I'll buy an expansion?  Hell fuck no.  That's taking it seriously.

So are people jumping.

Did anyone ever jump in Deus Ex while in view of a mirror? It was just JC going... sort of bow-legged, and moving up, then down. Of course, you weren't really supposed to see it, and this game was released in 1999.

Oblivion, a game released in 2006, with a third-person perspective option, looks exactly the same.  :MENDOZAAAAA:

Actually you don't even go bow-legged in Oblivion, you just put your arms up over your head and fly into the air.

Depends on your race.  Arthhhhhhwhateverthefuckthelizardguys go bowlegged, and I think the Kilrathi other furries do too.  Humans I think do Belmont jump.

I'd go check but last I heard the damn thing's got SecuROM on it.  The hell I'm installing that game again if I'm not actually playing it.

Oh, does it? I had no problems pirating it, so I have no complaints.  :slow:

It doesn't.

For all the Bethesda's done wrong, they don't DRM their games.  Which is a pretty huge plus.

So Steam has Beyond Good and Evil for $5 this weekend.  Yeah..  I've never actually /seen/ or played this game but wow.  I'm in the nutripill factory with piggy guy, and I'm kind of dumbfounded how I get the pearl from the boss who falls into the water.

Note: Has some serious issues in vista (Graphical flicker, sound-desync.)  Popular opinion in the steamforums seems to think that using multiple processors and turning all the settings on high causes this.

There are workarounds.. Use lower settings... And there's a command you can issue to try to force the game onto one processor.

But it kinda makes the game choke a little bit in graphic intensive areas like the city

I am terrified of installing any PC games nowadays and shit like this this is the reason why. Is there, like, a database of what games implement what kind of copy protection? I don't know whom to trust.
