I had bought UT3 some time ago, when the Unreal pack was discounted on Steam. I mostly wanted to buy the original UT and 2k4 to kind of make up for pirating them in the past. I tried UT3 again now that I got a more serious machine, and it turns out to be actually quite playable, as long as you stick to deathmatch. And look past how dumb everything looks.

Still can't recommend it though.

Of the indie game designers who don't post on these forums, probably my favorite is dessgeega.  She's just released her newest game, calamity annie: a love story in the old west.  Like most of dessgeega's games, it combines clever pixel art with deliberate color choices, an arcade sensibility, and (increasingly) lesbians.

I haven't played it yet, since it's PC only.

I played it once and that's enough, probably. I took all three hits on the 11th dude, and i surmise i will not be able to defeat him.

I got all the way to the 3rd baddest dude.  My reflexes are quite good I think, but I couldn't stay interested in the bland gameplay so I was really just half-assing it at the end.

It says it saves story progress, but um...  that doesn't include ANY of the actual fights, apparently.  When you die, you start all over from #25.  Considering how one-dimensional this game is, I don't see the point in replaying it, outside of bragging rights.

Since you haven't played it, Newbie, I'll sum it up:  you stare at a black screen with your cursor in the "HOLSTER" bar.  Suddenly, the scene with your foe in it appears, gun raised, and a timer at the bottom.  Click on the foe before the timer runs out, or you lose a life.  You have 3 lives, and get a refill for getting a certain number of points.  I got one at 10,000.  You can click on the foe's gun for a Disarm bonus.

For beating 5 stages, view a short scene with the chick in red talking at you, which involves clicking on something.  Beat 10 more stages for the second.  Beat the game for another scene, perhaps.  When you beat 5 stages and no conversation appears, you get to play a Hogan's Alley minigame which I found far easier to get a perfect score on than it is to beat the 15th foe.

That's it.

It's like playing Wild Gunmen with the zapper in your pocket, only easier and much less fun(ny).

However, I do approve of the practice of taking old NES games and adding lesbians.

I can't figure out where this game keeps its save files.  Does it somehow append them to the exe?  I would like to delete them manually, because I don't trust the game to do anything other than create an empty save file when I tell it to "erase" my data.

It's made with Gamemaker isn't it? I believe Gamemaker keeps highscores and saves and stuff in the registry or something. Don't know exactly how it works.

Have since moved on to Steamband in my meandering through the various Roguelikes on the Internet.  After several false starts, I have finally achieved some measure of success as a female automaton rogue, which has somehow metamorphosed into a blade-armed Victorian-era cyborg ninja.

Silent death wears a petticoat.

Currently playing an unpatched Diablo I got from a friend. I was horrified to learn after getting my warrior to level 30 that I couldn't enter Nightmare or Hell because it was a single player game. I have started over with a wizard and am level 10ish.

You can enter Nightmare and Hell with a single-player character.

Unfortunately you have to get a multiplayer character to that point to make it work.  With a multiplayer character of a high enough level, go and create a game of NM or Hell difficulty.  Then exit out, and start up a new Single Player game with your old character.  You'll be in that difficulty.  That's how I remember it working, anyway...

Bionic Commando: Rearmed is WONDERFUL.

Jesus christ there had better be a rip of these NES music remixes SOMEWHERE.

I forgot how difficult a game could be when you can't jump.
