Too Human?

My housemate is playing it, and I touched it for a second. He seems to be really enjoying it, but I think it's damned cheesy. The controls also seem a little wonky, but I should probably give it another chance or three. Eternal Darkness had a similar problem, but it still turned out to be an alright game. I guess I really do wanna play just to see what kind of character and equipment I'd end up with, but that seems like an awful lot of work.

For some weird reason, watching it really put me in the mood to play Lost Planet again. I have no idea why

Castle crashers is pretty fun, but not without flaws (fucky live play at the moment, the slightly too common cheap hit)

also replaying Metroid fusion and goddamn i forgot how fucking FRAIL Samus is in it.

But i actually beat that fucker Nightmare in one try.

Not quite as funny as when you give everyone a case of the Raging Fuck Yeah's and everybody catches it but Madagascar because they have some kind of fucking sixth sense when it comes to three people in indochina having a disease with no actual symptoms and shut down their harbors and airports forever.

That guy swears up and down the game's beatable, but unless Russia's perfected their glass dome technology since the Cold War I'm gonna have to ask for an explanation as to why Russia can be entirely bordered by a wall of corpses and not have a single infected person within their region.  Or a rat or a mosquito, even.

At least this one doesn't take a goddam hour to manifest its stupid.

I made a slow-developing, symptomless parasite and allowed it to spread throughout the world before making it melt people's brains.

In today's news, a new strain of Virus known simply as "Kira" has ravaged the world. Early blood tests showed infection by the virus, but with no visible symptoms, it was considered harmless. The virus quickly conformed to all environmental factors, and spread fast, with thousands of infected found in all countries. Mere days before testing for a new vaccine, the virus had developed to travel through air and water, as well as the previously observed transmittance via rodents and insects.

Pressing Update: within the last few hours, thousands of cases world-wide have been reported in which notably healthy people have been dying of heart attacks. Scientists are researching a connection to the "Kira" virus. Unfortunately, due to the increase in hospital admittance, and wide-spread embargoes, a vaccine for the virus isn't expected to be developed inside of the year.

Humanity is expected to die out inside of the week.

(This is my way of saying I won.)

Finally figured out how to do it.  You have to intentionally gimp your disease so that it doesn't spread fast.  You know, the opposite of what you would expect you should do.

Anyway, once that was done I just flipped the switch on "parasitic necrosis" and watched the fireworks.  There's something very stylish about causing every human being on the planet to just... become a corpse.

There's a big line of mines up the middle with the switch on top and a dip below where the door is and some gold in the upper corners

That's one full game down.

Now it's time to live up to my family name and herd some sheep.

Wait, what?

After about a thousand years in queue, I finally managed to get a copy of Digital Devil Saga from Goozex. Hot off the heels of Persona 3 FES, I'm having a little trouble getting into it. I might be getting Atlus burnout.

Consider your force... opposed!!!

...

Er, uh, I'm getting into character in preparation for Blue Shift.  Right.  That is the ticket.

O.F. strikes me as the Half-Life equivalent of Metal Gear Solid 2.  The charismatic and universally popular main character is replaced by a less assertive nobody, who then proceeds to run through a series of suspiciously familiar set pieces (oh look, there's a giant monster in a precariously volatile position that requires two mechanisms to be engaged before you can flip the switch to kill it, yadda yadda yadda), orchestrated by a not-entirely benign agent.  The player is given a radically stronger set of powers while the enemy is upgraded to be somewhat stronger and faster.  The quadratic scaling of your power to the linear scaling of your enemies makes the game actually rather easy until the end segments when it refuses to give you any useful powerups.  Also, the game ends with you having pretty much failed to accomplish everything you tried to do.

Then again, Shephard wasn't the one who threw the door wide open for an evil alien empire to come in and invade... twice.  So the Powers That Be call it about even and then he's literally Put On a Bus.

Oh well.  Next up: a talking purple dinosaur.

Welp, that was pointless.

Finally reached the end of HL1 and its various mods.  Next up, Portal.  Because it's next in line chronologically.

...

TIME PARADOX.

Look, it's just a fun game, all right?

WORD.
