Werehog Day
« on: March 02, 2010, 07:10:21 PM »

I had this idea IN THE GYM *flex flex flex*.

Anyway, I am looking for players for my first ever Werewolf game. I figure everyone (myself included) is sick of Wolf right now, but there is no harm in putting a thread up now and running it down the track (unless we have quittas like SCD). If I get enough players NOW, I will run it now.

Looking for 7+ people to play

Werehog Day!

The rules are as follows. There are some wolves. You vote for them. If you win, you win. If the wolves win, they win.

Every non-wolf player but one is a Vigilante and can day-kill as many times each day as they want. If a Vigilante kills an innocent, the game resets and one of the Vigilantes, chosen at random, is permanently transformed into a wolf. All players shuffle accounts. Obviously, because of shuffling this game will need to be played with anonymous accounts, but we should all have one of those by now, right?

The remaining Innocent is the Phil Connors/Rika Furude/Special Seer. When the game resets, they start out knowing the new identities of any wolves that were uncovered in previous games, while they were alive. They can do their usual bit, but obviously must keep their identity a secret.

Just in case you didn't grasp it, here's an example.

There are two wolves, four innocents and one Phil. First day lynch hits an innocent, wolves night-kill another innocent. Second day, a Vigilante baseball bats a wolf, lynch hits another innocent, leaving two innocents and a wolf. Since the night kill will win the game for the wolves, the Vigilante tasers, but accidentally hits Phil Connors and kills him. Game resets.

There are now three vigilantes, three wolves and one Phil. Phil knows the account of the werewolf that died, but not the werewolf that survived the previous game.

ANY QUESTIONS?

Are roles tied to accounts? Because if they are, in your scenario, not only will the innocents after the reset know the identity of the dead wolf (unless you don't say anything about that) (though the account owner could still get the wolves' planning PMs) but Phil Connors' account will be known, and then Phil Connors can just be killed immediately ad infinitum so he's completely useless.

If they aren't tied to accounts, Phil Connors knowing the account of a Wolf from the last game is completely useless because there is no longer any certainty in that. After one reset, it's 50/50. After two resets, the wolves win like normal (in a seven man)?

Help I am potentially way confused

Yyler, people keep their powers, but they change their names. So if Yyler the Seer and Brentai the Wolf are posting as Smacko and Shitto, then next game, Yyler would still be the Seer, but he would be Shitto. Brentai would still be a wolf but he would be Smacko.

When I randomly determine resets, I would send them the password for their new random account. Capiche?

Capiche?
nope

because again, what is the point in Phil knowing that Smacko was a wolf if the wolf behind Smacko was now Shitto?

Because I would start each Groundhog Day by sending the Phil a PM with the new identities of the wolves that were uncovered via lynching in previous games.

Yyler the Seer would receive a PM stating that the wolf previously named Shitto is now named Smacko.

Minor rules adjustments after some consideration:

1) For the werewolves to win, they must have more wolves than survivors AND Phil must be dead.

Reason for fix: In a seven player game, after two games, wolves would receive an automatic win. This gives the Town a first turn for the Vigilantes to try to salvage the situation.

2) If Vigilante kills are resolving on wolves AND town, then they resolve in the order I receive them. For example, if Vigilantes kill Wolf, Innocent, Wolf, in that order, on the next Werehog Day, Phil would be aware of the identity of only the first wolf.

I was going to hold off on signing up until I could figure out whether I'd stumbled onto an optimal strategy, but I don't think I have, which means it's now okay to say that I'm in.
