If only Niku was a bad poster, Classic would be right for once.

I wanted to yell at you for being a tragic, constant idiot, but I honestly can't remember who you are. Do I like you?

Whatever, I felt obligated to rag on niku for constantly trying to suck the joy out of everything he touches, because I guess that's his thing this week. But the side effect is that any and all of the joy I might have had in posting got sucked out too.

I'm not saying that's Niku's fault. I'm just saying that correlation==causation.

 A little dissapointed in the 'Several hundred years later' line. I was hoping for portal flinging amongst the headcrabs. I also wonder why Chell just doesn't portal the fuck out when she sees clear sky.

Yeah, it's hard to tell.  They do use the energy balls the combine use, but I think it's explained somewhere that Aperture Science actually made those.

It's possible that the Combine actually assimilated the energy ball technology from Aperture Science. That's a retroactive explanation, of course.

Well, then why is it such a big deal that they not get aboard the AS craft at the end of ep2?

I assumed it was because fucking around with teleportation technology is what led the Combine to Earth in the first place.

Official word from Valve is that there's not meant to be a connection between the Combine and Aperture; they just reused the model for that puzzle element.

But weren't those BM's teleportation developments?

Yes, because they were the successful ones. Successful experiment: open portal to alien planet/universe. Unsuccessful: teleport entire facility to a remote part of the world.

I've never played, so I can't do any more than reiterate and summarize what I read on the various wiki pages. They gave the impression that BM and AS's teleportation technologies approach the problem from different angles and have very different strengths. Stability and "aim-ability" being strengths of AS work, while BM's version produces larger scale portals over more impressive "distances".

Portal 2 E3 Demo (Part 1) : Wheatley [HD]

One new HD trailer every day this week from Valve showing the new characters and mechanics. If the first one is any indication, it will fucking rule.

That's quite the emotive little ball. Probably the most emotive character Valve has ever made.

GLaDOS is looking pretty fine, too.
