I don't think there ever is a point where magic is mandatory in the game; IIRC you could have thrown one of those flaming pots at the switch. Also, magirocks return when you use up rings, so you never run out, they're just a limit on how many you can have at once.

To be honest, Terranigma is one of my favorite games. I first played it without any preconceptions as to its quality, and I liked it so much I completed it twice and spent a couple of years as a regular on a dedicated forum for it (some time before I first joined here, so that was long ago). It starts slow and there are a couple of asinine grindy spots, but overall I wouldn't exactly say the gameplay's a good fit for a pain contest. It's not super memorable either, but the music and the uniquely bittersweet (and sometimes surprisingly sinister and creepy) atmosphere make up for it I think.

Bloody Mary.  Unless you level grind to a psychotic degree.

But yeah it's a solid game.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

If you can do it by abusing save states, it ain't mandatory! :whoops:

Okay, no, I was on Cherubae's forum on http://www.fogu.com/terra/; the info pages are still there but the boards got the old drama+spam one-two punch and they're gone now. I remember Castle Snape (?), also vaguely some other site.

Man I was such a kid back then. About to coordinate a multi-author fanfic covering the entire game, too. Christ. In hindsight it's clear that crew had the combined attention span and writing talent of a dozen kittens. We couldn't even settle on whether we were going to correct the obviously mistranslated location names or use them as is. Much ado, heh.

Anyway yeah it may seem like I love Terranigma because it seeded kind of a social thing for me long ago but it really isn't the obscure masochistic shit-game it may appear to be at first glance. I'm gonna straight up admit I like some crappity-ass games, but this isn't one of them.

Yeah I know some multinational corporations that struggle with the same thing.

Navarl?  Really?

Castle Snape was the Xoom site.  I'd totally forgotten about Cherubae's page until now.  :D  I hung around them both but never really hit the forums much.
