I love when people want to go faster in your lane, but instead of just passing or something, they ride your tail and flash their high beams.  90% of the time, it's an SUV with halogens, too.  Fuck you, bitch, 10 over the limit isn't enough?  It's a goddamn four-lane highway, go the fuck around.

I've often wondered at the insurance implications of just slamming my brakes when I get that flash.  I mean, it actually does blind me.

Those don't bother me anymore because, yes, dickless in a big truck, I am willing to go 20 under the speed limit just to bother you.

Heh.

Yeah, I get that all the time. The safest place for a motorbike on a multi-lane expressway is often in the fast lane (it only has one side open and is not adjacent to on/off ramps). If I do take the fast lane, I will usually be going above the posted limit (based on accepted local practise), but damned if I'm going to scream out at 75 mph. Any retards pissed that I'm 'only' doing 20% above the limit can fucking pass me.

Flashing their brights? On a four-lane?!?

They don't want to get around you.

They want your brains splattered in a ditch.

Flashing their brights? On a four-lane?!?

It's way more likely than you think.

One of my neighbors in my building is a nice fellow.  Usually works from home.  So he doesn't have much use of a car.  He's got a nice little motor scooter that gets him around the back streets of town.  However, one day I exited the freeway to a wall of traffic.  He had gone down to the stripmall near there and was driving down a lane at 5pm rush back over a two mile stretch back to the apartment complex.  There is a wide shoulder he could be driving on, but he is using a lane.  The scooter is low enough power that it does not require a tag, and from I understand does not abide by most motorvehicle rules.  SO DRIVE ON THE GOD DAMNED SHOULDER ALREADY.

I don't know about you guys, but up here in Québec, bicycles and up are legally held to the same standard as cars, license/tags/engine or not; they count as occupying the entire width of a lane, and must abide by all signalization.

Of course, it's also mandatory to learn and perform the appropriate hand/arm motions to signal turns and stops, but yeah, you never see anyone doing that either.

Down here in Texas, we're legally required to chuck empty beer cans at any and all people riding bikes.

For the record, my usual policy when that happens is to chase the offending car to a stoplight and break their passenger-side window with my u-lock.

But if it's the passenger who threw a can at you, his window is already rolled down! What happens then? Assault? :serious:

This seems to be standard policy for the entire American South... and some parts that just kind of wish they were.

Also add tobacco chaw, empty beer BOTTLES, random pieces of rebar, bricks, rocks and full drink cups to that list.

No driver has ever ever done anything to hurt me while riding that wasn't the direct result of pure negligence. I must be living in the most tolerant state of the Union!

I love when people want to go faster in your lane, but instead of just passing or something, they ride your tail and flash their high beams.

It sucks, but the law (and common courtesy) states that if the person behind you is trying to go faster than you're willing to, you must pull into the lane to your right at the first available opportunity.

For the record, people who won't do that are my #1 pet peeve.

Please stop indicating I should pull onto the SHOULDER of the road.

Alright, potential thread-split discussion because I can't find any laws of the road saying either way:

You are in the center lane of a three-lane highway traveling at 55 mph. A car traveling at 75 mph is coming up the road from behind you.

Who is obligated to change lanes, you or the speeder?

If the left lane is open, you pass and overtake.

On another note, Oklahoma changed the law about fines in construction zones.  Instead of double the fine, your fine is now increased to $1000.

In this example, the speed-limit is 55 and there are no other cars on the road and you are the one being passed.

$1000 is cheap in Cali! That's the fine just for littering!

Speed limit 55?  I'm not obligated to budge an inch because the speeder is violating the law.  If I recall, they may pass me by doing roughly 10 mph faster than I to get around.

BONUS ROUND:  The left lane has a ramp and a spike pit after it, the right lane has an oil slick and a power-up icon.  WHAT DO YOU DO?
