My only problem with the current oracle design is that they were trying to step away from Protoss deathball play by giving them more harass options.  If anything, this new Phase shield is going to encourage deathball play by negating most anti-deathball abilities.  Yeah, it still has the mineral harass ability, but particularly late game, it just strikes me as a flying sentry.

Old dude rages hard.  It's...about the level of play I'd expect from someone that age, but apparently he plays all the time and is still in low silver league.

Yeah, they exist to prevent Protoss from building a pylon wall at the lower base of the enemy's ramp.  It's a popular way to deny Zerg expansions; most competitive maps have a neutral, lowered supply depot that prevents that from happening, but can eventually be destroyed.  Blizzard decided to make a Blizzard-themed (ie: rocks) equivalent for the new expansion maps.

The problem is, in zerg v protoss, originally, you could block a ramp with only two pylons and then back it with cannons and deny/delay the zerg expo. Since Zerg are so reliant on getting a fast expo, there was really no reason not to do this every single game. You would always come out ahead as the toss player.

They changed it so it took 3 pylons to block a ramp in the hopes it would discourage this tactic, but the extra 100 mineral cost wasn't enough of a deterrent. In the end, you still come out farther ahead than the extra 100 minerals sets you back. So they added in the lowered supply depot for actual tournament maps so that toss couldn't do this.

So it looks like everyone with a WoL account should have access to the Heart of the Swarm beta now.  You may want to log into battle.net and check!

EDIT: Looks like everyone can download the client, but people in this last wave are unable to login atm.  So either it's a Blizzard snafu or HotS is about to go open beta, but not quite yet.

EDIT2: AAAAAaaand it's a bug :(

Looks like collector's edition is only being sold at bricks-and-mortar locations. It's on Amazon now

Digital deluxe edition is available at blizzard store.

If people are looking for a good series to watch, games 2&3 of DRG v. Bomber are pretty fantastic.  Game 1 starts at 2h15m if you want to see that too.

Holy poop, this beta patch is very ambitious.  Pretty significant interface changes, too.

In other news, Jaedong joins Evil Geniuses. :derp:
