I don't like how the practice 5 games thinger works.  It would be okay if you were playing on normal maps, but the stupid boulders in the way creates a very silly blind mind game.  Is he going to rush to air, or eco-up and get a ground army?  Unless you're Terran this is pretty much a blind 50/50 because you can't scout or harrass or do anything other than guess, which is pretty stupid.

Honestly, I bet I'll be kicked down to Silver after a few matches.  I play very macro oriented.  I scout early, fend off any early offenses if I spot em coming, expand early and kinda just roll over my opponents, usually with rather large unit-resource losses in my opponents favor.

Interesting that the Mac version has significantly higher requirements.

And so a date has been set: July 27 for retail release, with digital release "soon after"

We'll see if they hold to it, but barring that...  :glee:

Last I heard, Zerg had a 5% win advantage over any other race in Korean beta play, whereas they were losing by 5% in Euro play.  I'm curious to see what tweaks, if any, they receive by release.

I wouldn't be surprised if Zerg as a whole have been given less attention due to the fact that they're not playable at all in the single-player, and that multiplayer development has worked toward making Zerg balanced rather than 'interesting'.

If there's one thing that Blizzard is obsessed with, it's balance. Well, that and making humanity the villain.

The game is very balanced as is, don't get me wrong!  But Zerg is kinda... boring, in comparison to some of the neatness that's been given to Terran and Protoss.  And Spawn Larva is kinda poorly implemented.  You're on a constant 25 second timer that you have to keep up with or you will be missing out on advantages.

At least with the Terran and Protoss if you forget to do their usual stuff (Mules and Chronoboost), you're not totally shooting yourself in the foot.  Sometimes it would make sense sometimes to save up energy for clutch situations or, in the case of Terran, you have other abilities that are very useful.

With the Queen, you're pretty much doing nothing but Spawn Larva, and you want to do it ASAP EVERY time.  Spawn Creep Tumor is used once at most, and Transfusion not at all.

And Roaches are way to boring to also be the games most cost effective unit.  And Infestors aren't as neat as Defilers.  And Ultralisks are still under used.

I still main Zerg.
