2v2 with a friend is so much fun it's criminal. You just have to forget everything you learned about 1v1 build orders and concentrate on getting out early units because here is how it works:

1. YOUR OPPONENTS ATTACKS WITH EARLY 2 PLAYER PUSH: You have enough units to survive
2. YOUR OPPONENTS DO NOT ATTACK WITH EARLY UNITS: You have enough units to attack and win

of course this falls apart when you get into the leagues where people actually scout and build bunkers to defend an early push while they tech, but you know

Anyway I've been playing offrace terran with Romo in Silver and Toss with Esper in Gold (where things are a bit tougher and stupid early pushes don't work as often) and it is 100% amazing

haha Smiler and I did some 2v2 placement matches and we both went terran so it was DOUBLE 3 RAX NONSENSE

our second game was against double toss

we blew one guy up like right away and then attacked the other, who held us off with forcefields until my tanks arrived and his lossi finished, then he kicked our asses all the way back to our shared base and nearly broke us with a huge lossi/chargelot push

then we made vikings and blew up all his lossi

turned out he was a Master leaguer 1v1 and a diamond 2v2er

Played some rando games with Friday (which all turned out PvT, ha) as well as some 2v2.  The 2v2 was amusing.

First game we get drone rushed, which we shut down with no problem.

Second game we are doing fine and then I forget my color and see Friday's army engaging and I'm all 'wtf pull back'.  Then I realize when there are like 6 units left that it's my army.

Third game was a real push and go with a doublezerg, but we just kept denying expos until we forced them to try and basetrade.  Unfortunately for them, I had DTs and they didn't have detection at that point (I made a habit of blink-sniping overseers).  It was a fun long game.

Godddd everything about this looks shitty.

They're essentially saying the crux of the game as of now is you running around defeating quarreling brood mothers, getting yourself back up to the position you were in during Starcraft II. So they just strip you of all your power and make you spend the game getting it back. This is like the least interesting thing they could possibly do with the Zerg.

They're pretty much re-doing the Zerg campaign from Brood War (or at least the parts of the BW campaign with Kerrigan in it).

??????????????????????

If you didn't see this premise coming from seven million miles away after the end of the Wings of Liberty, I suggest you seek medical help because it means something is wrong with your brain.

Also, I'm sure they'll also include the following:

1. The Protoss showing up and trying to kill you
2. Mengsk showing up and trying to kill you
3. Basically everyone showing up and trying to kill you because everyone hates Kerrigan

Also, that little quip about "we don't know Kerrigans's motivations" is fucking hilarious.

Here, I'll outline the events to come so you can stop worrying about spoilers for the single player campaign from now on.

JAINA, RAYNOR, THRALL, KERRIGAN, AND THE NIGHT ELVES PROTOSS TEAM UP ON MOUNT HYJAL SOME ANCIENT XEL'NAGA PLANET TO STOP ARCHIMONDE AND THE SCOURGE DURAN/THE DARK VOICE AND THE ZERG NOT UNDER KERRIGAN'S CONTROL PLUS THE HYBRIDS FROM GAINING ACCESS TO THE TREE OF LIFE SOME ANCIENT XEL'NAGA ARTIFACT TO AVOID THE DESTRUCTION OF AZEROTH THE GALAXY.

Anyway.

I think it's cool that Kerrigan will be a hero unit usuable in every mission, but I hope they remove the "Kerrigan must survive" mission req. Maybe just have her burrow and be unusable for the rest of the mission, or be respawnable for a good chunk of mins and gas or something. Otherwise she could easily get picked off in mass engagements, and I don't want to have to worry about that constantly.

Raynor: So, uh, is it just the hair that's still all carapacey, or --
Kerrigan: Well, uh, I still have some residual teeth and spines down there, so --
Raynor: Oh, well, uh, can, you like, have surgery to get that shit removed, or --
Kerrigan: Uh, not really, I mean, I tried, like, shaving? But they just regenerate right back and then they're really pissed off for awhile, nearly snapped my fingers right off --
Raynor: Oh. Oh. OK. Well, uh, I met this other Ghost a few months back named Nova and -- Look, I'm just saying, I think we should see other people.

I'm not saying it isn't the most obvious and powerfully lazy thing they could've done, it's just...

I can't get this notion out of my head that they have more money that god and it would be so easy and so nugatory to just hire some decent sci-fi writer to put out a serviceable video game plot for their aggressively-hyped flagship trilogy and well... it just seems impossible that they wouldn't even try, you know?

Like WHOSE JOB IS IT right now in the vast 5,000-employee Activision-Blizzard hive to not give a quarter of a dick about the story of their multi-million-dollar story-driven space thing?

I'm trying to sympathize with your storyline complaints, but I've had to put up with the last fifteen years of MTG storylines.

I'm not really complaining, because I love Starcraft and no matter how predictable and cliche it gets, it has an amazing feel and atmosphere.
