Chiptune
« on: April 06, 2010, 08:52:23 AM »

I know I've plugged them in the past, but Tree Wave is pretty much everything I want in a chiptune band. It's not really limited media (which I have always thought was a retarded concept) so much as it's a band using that low, crunchy, I dunno... "subdued" sound as one part of a much more satisfying whole. They're not afraid to punch into straight-up techno when it makes a better song, and the fact that there's vocals alone puts it a step above the nostalgic novelty I see in a lot of other chiptune acts. I suppose I just like the when this sound is used as a single contributing instrument rather than the main attraction.

Any chiptune stuff that Virt does is usually pretty cool.

she is an astounding chiptune artist.

Most of her stuff is free on her site, but her two most recent albums are all money-costy and whatnot.
Either way, really worth checking out.

Whoa, liberaltom, you weren't kidding about She - this is some good stuff.

You do have to pay for her newest releases, but she does let you download her older albums for free. Chiptek's definitely worth the listen.
