A bodybuilder is a bad person with ruinous priorities and a stance on what constitutes "healthy" that borders on the psychotic.  Their opinions are not to be trusted.

There's nothing wrong with making an argument that states "There are far worse food on offer through other fast food franchises". There is however something wrong with making an argument that implies the DD is healthy in some bizarre way.

If you give a rat's ass about green-type things, it's also worth noting that an all-protein (or near enough) sandwich is far less sustainable than one with strange things like grains and vegetables (granted, most of those on offer in your average fast food item is pretty far from the real thing).

But I don't think logic really has a place in the la la bizarro world of the fast food death-by-gluttony arms race, so NEVER MIND, CARRY ON.

I'd have to say anything with the words double or triple in it. Also anything that claims more than 1/2 pound of meat per sandwich.

I don't think Shinra meant to imply that someone was going to pick a fried chicken sandwich over a grilled one for health reasons.  At least I'm giving him that benefit of the doubt.

But yeah the Double Down is really more stupid than it is unhealthy.  If you eat two small filets of fried chicken breast and a slice of cheese, you just ate a Double Down.  Which isn't healthy, but it's not a Royal Red Robin Burger.

Name three.

The Baconator, from Wendy's.
The Monster Thickburger, from Hardee's.
The Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese, from McDonald's.
The Fiesta Taco Salad, from Taco Bell.
The Large Beef 'n Cheddar, from Arby's.
The Big Carl, from Carl's Jr.
The Double-R-Bar Burger, from Roy Rogers.

There's no shortage of these, but I didn't want to repeat restaurants.

It's also a lot easier to find worse if you live in the US. I mean, Wendy's Baconator is probably worse (I seem to recall seeing that stat when the DD first came out?), and if I was too look around Toronto, I'm sure I could find a number of terrifying offerings at local non-chain (or small chain) greasy spoons. But if I was in say, St. Louis, I could probably find three worse offerings on the same block, with a few more to spare.

Well, uh, there you go. Guess I was right about the Baconator.

Of those, only the Wendy's, McDonald's, Arby's, and maybe the Taco Bell offerings are available in Canada.

In fact, here's 88. KFC only appears on the list twice, and neither is the dreaded double-down, which only has .5 grams of trans fat. In terms of deadliness, that's the characteristic that matters.

Don't get me wrong; I still don't want to eat one... but they aren't actually as bad as the public discourse would have you believe.

White Castle food will kill you long before the trans fat does.

Quote
Subway did have items that contained up to 2 grams of trans fat.

I think the furor about the double down had less to do with the actual fat/sodium/caloric content of the "sandwich" as how it editorialized on the people eating it.

But then I went to a trendy yuppie organic food restaurant in D.C. a year ago where I got a burger that had GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES INSTEAD OF A BUN so I think everybody needs to just calm the fuck down with the classist judgments of fast food.

grilled cheese sandwiches should never be a bun, jesus christ.

But they can be used as bread for a sandwich because they are also a sandwich. It's a fundamental property of sandwich.

NOTE:
Open-faced sandwich is a misnomer.
