Where do you think I was every weekend for the past two months!  Neat little local Ren Faire where I worked at the blade smiths forge making a long knife and a short sword.

Now what am I going to do with my weekends now that Faire's over?!  Other than sleep in till noon.

I'll be going to Scarborough at some time this month.  Can't wait!

Yeah I always thought that place was a bit behind the times..

We go to Renfest (warning: terrible website, audio) every couple years. Dad and his friends were big SCA fans growing up, and while we've never been into dressing up for the part, he'll occasionally bring or wear his various creations. I'm pretty sure we were at the Festival when he finally decided he was disgusted by how everybody only wore chain or plate mail, and decided to make a set of scale mail. We wound up spending the next two years hitting up all the flea markets and pawn shops in this part of the state for spoons.

He made the hat later.

She's in Texas so I bet she's talking about the Scarborough from earlier in the thread.

Perhaps you should stick to your Canadian Renaissance music:

This could also fall under GOOD TIMES thread, but I feel it's more appropriate here.

They had all the veterans and current active duty throw a parade, which I marched in.  After a short ceremony, I went back out in to the faire, and I couldn't pass one of the 'pubs' without someone offering to buy me a drink, as I was wearing a yellow sash.

Best Memorial Day EVER?  Yes.

I use to work at a ren faire in Troop, Texas.  It was fun, it's almost like a family out there. I started out as a female Musketeer- I use to beat the boys. Then the next couple of years I was apart of an all female pirate group called The Ladies of the Salty Kiss. we did bastard versions of fairy tales. Grand ol times.    Just today I got a text from my sister who lives in Tulsa, bout 6 hours away from me or so, sayings that a guy she works with knows me from the kisses and ren faires. It's crazy! They can be a lot of fun, but the food is a little.... I dunno on a stick.

Fun nerd fact : Constantine and I met at a ren faire. He was a singing pirate.  :8D:

Was he singing that PIRATE song I listened to like six times on the way to and from MAGFest?  Because that song rocks and I want to hear it again.

Something like "We drink and we fight, if being a pirate's wrong I don't wanna be right!"

Pirate festival coming up next month. It's a shame their vendors are generally trash. I'd like to get a good hat and coat this year, but the last two times I've gone have been disappointing. (You want how much for that piece of shit?)

Yeah, garb prices are waay out there. Most of the stuff is just utter trash too.  I tend to make my own stuff. I've made Constantine a pirate coat before, now he's got me making him a much more fancy one.

Yay. :nyoro~n:
