What kinds of foods do they offer at Ren Faires other than turkey legs? Is it just that and pickles?

Kebab, lots of different kinds of pork and BBQ at ones around here, and then you get the occasional I HOMEBREW BEER / WINE / ROOT BEER / CREAM SODA guy. Aforementioned guy's cream soda and root beer are fucking terrible, I bought a huge jug of it, poured 99% of it out and replaced it with water. His excuse was, THEY DIDN'T HAVE CARBONATION IN THE MIDDLE AGES. bullshit, they had yeast you moron. Why do you think they call it root beer?

The root beer stand at Norman's annual medieval fair is pretty awesome.  It's a bunch of people not one guy, I think.  I have a cool bottle labeled Dragon's Ale which gets me a discount each year since they just refill it.

I guess what I am trying to get at here is do they offer any foods that aren't at your average County Fair, because I could just go to one of those and go on some rides as well.

And I guess what I am also getting at here is that while they might be fun to visit once I am not really interested enough in people dressing up in costumes to go to Ren Faires as a regular thing.

They better darn well have pretzels or fried dough or something. Or pottage!

Yeah, I don't know if it's the same guy at Muskogee, probably not though because that shit was fucking awful, and everyone I met the rest of the night who was carrying a bottle of it looked pissed off that they'd wasted the money.

I also asked a few people just to be sure I was reading the look correctly.

I don't know about the ones in your area, but the Muskogee ren faire has a 'dinner with the lord and lady' which consists of some YE Olde Medieval Faire and some Mead. It's not cheap, though.

Do most county fairs have scotch eggs? Scotch eggs with horseradish are my #1 fair food.

A quick perusal of the Minnesota Renaissance Faire menu (which is worth a look) also turns up bangers/mash, battered cauliflower, breaded portabella, mead, pot roast sandwiches, the spicy plum chicken bowl, Bellini, and lots of more standard options.

There are also theme weekends, but I don't know if that influences the food or if it just means that they cart in a few more pirates.

Even the description of scotch eggs is nauseating. Although it would probably give you the authentic Renaissance experience of dying of dysentery.

So basically you guys are talking about county fairs where the attendees dress a little less garishly.

Excuse me, I must have been thinking of pickled eggs.

There were no turkeys in the old world.  You live a lie.
 ::(:

I haven't been to one in awhile.  Everytime I go I end up spending way more money than I had hoped to.  D:  Got a spiffy costume and sward, at least.

Where do you think I was every weekend for the past two months!  Neat little local Ren Faire where I worked at the blade smiths forge making a long knife and a short sword.

Now what am I going to do with my weekends now that Faire's over?!  Other than sleep in till noon.

I'll be going to Scarborough at some time this month.  Can't wait!
