I'm putting in my vote for 3rd edition, level 5, using material only from the SRD, PHB, and DMG. I don't have anything prepared for tomorrow though. Let's meet on Gametable at 6 PM CST and hash out characters. That way we won't have a group of five wizards -- or if we do have a group of five wizards, they're all able to do different things.

3rd or 4th for me. I'm still not sure what the deal is when we hand over the reins. When I said 'anthology' I meant like we each have a campaign going and we do that campaign when it's our turn to DM. That way it won't be a plot tug-of-war.

My vote is for Basic Fantasy, http://www.basicfantasy.org/main.html

It's like first edition D&D, but simplified even further.

And I also am willing to be DM first!

I dig Zach's suggestion.  I can play 4th edition, but I am just so much more familiar with 3rd that I feel more comfortable running it.

Also, I do like Buge's idea of the anthology-type thing, with everyone running concurrent games, just rotating which one we play each week.

I COULD learn a different game if that's what is needed, but I am more familiar with DnD. I can through together a 4e session quickly. For 3.5 or 3e I need a module.

As for the anthology. I could do that. Or have each individual session be a separate "story" Either or.

I'm not sure I'm too keen on the Anthology idea.  I wouldn't want to wait two months to come back to a particular game.  We wouldn't know where we left off, and it'd be totally jarring in general.

Since Eric is the first to say he would GM, I'd ask him to restrict his choice to 3e or 4e.  I'm impartial either way, though I prefer 4e.  Then again, the SRD is sweet.

Edit:  Or does Zach wanna run?  I suppose we could discuss BOTH DM's idea's and make characters for both, and next Thursday one can run, and the following Thursday the next.

I <3 shadowrun, but I've never DM'd nor do have a strong grasp on the system.

So, we're all meeting on Gametable at 6, CST today, RIGHT!?

Zach, are you going to be host?

Yeah. I'll post the GameTable information here and make an appearance in #finalfight just to be safe.

Let's start off with one 3E game with rotating GMs and see if that's sustainable. From there, other games may bud off (like Shadowrun, hopefully!), but planning them at this point is a little schizophrenic. Eric/Setutua has first dibs on GMing (next week), and I'll pick it up after that.

I have been telling myself that it's time to stop my edition-whining and give 4th Edition a fair shake, but I'd rather not be learning to GM it at the same time that I'm figuring out Gametable and adapting to the style of a new group.

Just FYI gametable overhead gets terrible if you use it for more than just a map. Terrible lag and tends to break randomly with more than a few (dozen) pogs. Recommend voip or at least irc to chat and irc for dice.

I say we should restrict our sources to those available in the SRD, just for the sake of easyitude.

As per Zach, Setuthua (sorry for using his TRUE BRO name, he uses it in TF2!) has first dibs for next Thursday.  We shall discuss what we wanna play as this evening.  See you all there!

Edit:  http://dnd3rd.sourceforge.net/  This might be useful!

Unless I've committed a grievous timing error, it is 6:10 CST right now. Nothing yet.

Yeah, totally can't connect to this. Did you set the thing up right? It's just trying to connect for 10 seconds and then telling me there is no host open at that IP.

Alright. I just assumed since I couldn't connect, it was because there was no one there and it was over.
My internet time is all screwy.

Does everyone have AIM?  We could use that until we hash out the technical bitties.

Good plan. #JDigital it is.

I will cope with my non-understanding of GameTable later.
