Yeah, I suppose that's the kind of breakdown I need to read. Thanks. For the record though, I know playing against bots doesn't mean a thing; what puffed me up is that I consistently did much better than almost everyone else on my own teams, for what little it's worth. :nyoro~n:

In all fairness Kayle's ult is really fantastic if you are Light Yagami.

What I don't know about Death Note can fill a couple bags of holding, so, uh, what does that mean?

If you are a super genius with perfect timing that can accurately predict the immediate future.

Don't get me wrong Kayle is awesome when you bait a guy into a fight to the death but then you're invulnerable instead of dead, or you turn Rambo's retarded 5v1 charge into an Invulnerable Shielded draining of every Ult on the enemy team. And with a 30 second cooldown you can experiment and try it a lot without too much fear of an early blown load.

Just gotta deal with all the other problems Kayle has. And again, Zilean's Ult does the exact same thing but better(and nearly as fast if you're a good Zilean player.)

I swear quints are a changing trend. I've seen everyone switching to hp per 5 runes now.

The most recent metas are based on lane longevity and defensiveness/being topped off, so...

I've been using x/21/x with Armor/MR/HP runes across the board for a few months now. A few less exciting lucky early ganks, but 58 MR at level 1 on any hero and almost never First Blooded for awhile now.

I see, I could see that being pretty viable. I used health per level runes on Annie for a laugh, and realized damn that health really did save me.

I picked Lux because she stood out from the crowd of generic angry/mysterious/dark champs, and because she looked like a healy/support type, but apparently she's more of a giggly little death machine. People must not come across her very often, because the amount of kills I get off wounded enemies who run directly away from me in single file is borderline shameful.

In fact, in general I think I'm more worried about developing bad habits from going against barely-competent humans than from bots. "He can't be letting me do this, it must be a trap. Wait, no, it's not. Huh." Several times now I went for Mejai's Soulstealer early to excellent effect, but somehow it feels like I won't be able to get away with that sort of risk for much longer. I guess it depends on when the game decides to match me against people who know what they're doing.

Okay, so. I'm Alistar. We're in endgame. Everyone's level 18. I've got my team right behind me in the middle lane, and I see the other team coming towards us.

I flash in the middle of their group, Pulverize four of them, headbutt their Annie back towards my team, then pop my ult as my opponents come out of stun and watch in satisfaction as they start focusing on me.

Meanwhile, my entire team runs away from Annie as she turns her back to them to return to the fight I started. My ult expires, the other team finishes me off in five whole seconds. As if on cue, my guys decide to charge, now tankless, into what has become a 4v5.

We lose.

One guy on the other team goes "you played well, ali".

where did i go wrong

how do i stop that from happening again

there must be a trick

Get to the point where you aren't matched with people afraid of a enemy who is set up for a gank. When I was leveling I would seriously see people running from the character I rocket grabbed as Blitzcrank.

Ehhh, I guess I might stop tanking for a while. I picked Alistar because I wanted to learn how to initiate fights and CC effectively, but if I'm gonna be a force multiplier that is stuck constantly multiplying zero, might as well just play someone who can kill stuff instead.

I'd be kind of depressed about this realization on account of how I just unlocked Sona, but I went 5/1/27 and 4/1/19 on my first test games with her and I'm still high on the fumes of love at the moment. Stay tuned for my upcoming brush with reality and subsequent freefall into incoherent misanthropic rage!

Nah, that can't be-

how the f does that happen

well okay i know how that happened, i had 30% more minion kills than the next best guy on either team

i mean i'm not actually mad, the other team surrendered after 24 minutes, but still

Okay, I think I get the lesson at hand here. Playing Alistar with incompetents is akin to rolling a giant turd up a hill, and when you get to the top it rolls right over you on its way back down. On the other hand, playing Sona with incompetents keeps your incompetents alive just a bit longer than the incompetents on the other team.

Always pay attention to what the other team has on your victory screen. Half of the time it will tell you a story. They had no AD, their tank only built armor against a well rounded team, and they really have any sustained DPS among them. If your team survives their initial burst you won the fight.

Sona can eat the fucking kills in teamfights though thanks to her Q. If your team is winning a mejais is almost always a great idea. A good Sona can keep a team that wins a teamfight pushing, which is always a good thing.

Had the most satisfying immortal ever today.  I got an annihilation and raped the enemy team so many times with Arachna, I can't see why I would ever want to play any other hero ever >:3

The quality of my teams seem to have been improving lately, so I started using Alistar again, to decent effect. My last game wasn't too promising; I was paired in the top lane with a support Karma (with Yi and Olaf in bottom doing who knows what with each other) against Morde and Nunu.

Turns out, every time our opponents worked up the courage to try something, they'd both charge at the same time, I'd Pulverize them, knock one backwards, help Karma tear him to pieces, and finish off the other moron who for some reason actually stuck around thinking he still had a shot. I think this exact scenario happened like six times, with the same people in the same circumstances. It was so sad, Karma actually ended up giving advice to the enemy team. At one point I realized "jesus i'm a fed alistar, how did that happen". I built a Triforce the first time I went back (which I never do, I usually go Merc Treads, Frozen Heart/Force of Nature in appropriate order and then wing it from there) and we ended up steamrolling them so hard they surrendered after 20 minutes.

I suspect the matchmaking system in this game runs on crack and broken dreams. It's not even that I'm coming off a losing streak and it's having pity on me, I've actually been having a decent run lately. So who knows what's going on there.

If you want a trip, try playing as Morgana. Lux is pretty much Morgana's babby sister when it comes to playstyle. Morgana's black shield is a monster. It stops all disables. Laugh at Xin Zhao as he tries to slow and then knock you up and fails! Run into Rammus' powerball and keep on trucking! You are a god! Lux lends well to being on the edge of teamfights with her ult; Morgana is right in the middle doing huge amounts of damage.
