You know, I figured Tristana would be terrible on Dominion. So naturally I had to give her a try. It went something like this:

1- Gah, I'm so slow and fragile. There you go, debit to team, gg.
2- I don't even know what to buy here. I guess I'll try the recommended items and see if it makes me less useless.
3- I'm good for nothing except ripping people apart when they take risks, this is terrible.
4- On hey we won. I'm MVP. By 500 points.
5- Wait, what?

 :perfect:

Tristana is one of those characters who is great on Dominion because of the fast action and faster scaling. In SR she has to be in mid and has to edge out the opponent to be better than any other choice for mid. Once you get good at her she is better than a lot of mids, but until you can make the other mid be a few levels behind you, she is very average. And of course you need to master popping out of nowhere and shooting the shit out of the other dudes.

HoN 3.0 screenshot. Interesting. Here's an album I got it from, but that's the most interesting one.

There's some new hero pictures, as well as the new creeps, trees. etc. The hellbourne base is actually surrounded by a chasm now, not cliffs.

So Riot's gonna improve the points gained from defense in Dominion. That's a pretty good move, considering that right now denying an enemy push, no matter how large, nets you less score than dying on a point that is subsequently lost. Yeah, yeah, that "noob" Ali has only 400 points and you think you won despite him, but the Boneyard never fell and he sent half the enemy team limping back home so often you had all the time you needed to secure the Windmill and Refinery.

-That Nasus is grain-fed guys, you should pick up some null-magic cloaks at least.
-nasus is 1/5/4, he harmless, besides we're winning
-He's got creeps out the ass. Seriously, get some magic resistance, if not for him, then for that Karthus.
-i saw him hit you, didn't do crap
-I got a Force of Nature and my ult reduces incoming damage by 75%. You're a glass-cannon Sivir.
-w/e

...

-Oh hey, surprise, Nasus got three triple kills within five minutes, we lost.
-bad tank
- :fuckyou:

EDIT: Okay, that was horrible advice, apparently Nasus' Q adds physical damage. But I was also sporting a Frozen Heart and only our Cho'gath had any armor so yeah it's not like they'd have listened to me anyway.

Three Greater Quintessences of Fortitude: 78 HP for 6150 IP
Three Quintessences of Bountiful Treats: 72 HP for 2985 IP

I'm sure there would come a time when those 6 extra points came in handy, but at over 500 IP each? I dunno. Heck, even the Harrowing armor pens are looking pretty good, and I'm sitting on 1800 IP right now...

Yeah, sounds like it is, especially at that price.

With how much Dominion I play though, I'm thinking about move speed too. Speedy Specter is +1.39%, and Greater Swiftness is +1.5% for more than double the price. That's a .33% difference for a set, which I suppose is also rather negligible.

On, say, a bootless Nocturne, +4% MS is about the equivalent of having a permanent rank 2 Sona speed aura (without the active % bonus). It might just be worth the IP.

Movespeed quint's definitely rock on certain champions that have slow movement speed naturally like Nasus. I'm loving graves so far. He's really good at dueling people in bottom lane of dominion.

I fought against one Graves yet; I wasn't on the receiving end of his stuff much, but his smoke grenade is spooky as hell. I was actually Nocturne at the time, so it made me a little jealous. "Got your darkness right there" indeed.

He's pretty bursty at times, though most seem to not realize you can use his Dash to go over tight corners. Why yes Jarvan your ult has no effect on me.

Well, it's pretty shameful how much stuff can go through Jarvan's ult to begin with; it doesn't seem to block anything that's not basic movement. I was saving up for him after filling up on armor pen reds and armor yellows, but after trying him for free this week, it kinda feels like I don't mind waiting for a bit. I couldn't figure out what he's meant to do and how he's meant to do it, or at least it wasn't as immediately apparent as with my other unlocked champs.

Jarvan's Ult is for the burst damage and forcing somebody to blow their escape/Flash so that you/teammates can immediately kill them. As you'd imagine, only a mediocre or bad Jarvan is surprised to see somebody poof over those walls. Or does every Jarvan player really think he's entitled to a 400 damage 5 second stun on a short cooldown?

Also Jarvan is meant to be Tanky DPS or a DPS that can take a beating, and he is utterly fucking magnificent at it. His passive means that no matter how he builds, he can probably out-harass you over time. I'm not sure how he plays on Dominion(but his tool-kit would allow him to occupy 3-5 people killing him for way too long for it to be worth it while he pokes and interrupts their captures non-stop) but he is monstrous on Summoner's Rift either style.

Hmm. I absolutely destroyed Intermediate bots with him, which is no great feat of course, but did terribly on both SR and Dom versus actual people. I may have tried to play him too much like Alistar; his lack of a I AIN'T DYIN' IN THE NEXT SEVEN SECONDS button might have done me in.

In other news I blew 2k on two Speedy Specters and can easily get my third before Halloween (though I'm still only level 26). The effect was immediately noticeable on a barefoot Sona, and I expect it'll do wonders for my Cassiopeia, so yeah, no regrets there. Part of me would have liked to save up 6k for CDR or HP quints like I originally planned, but f that noise, it was beginning to sound like work.

I barely outran a pursuing Garen tonight for the entire distance between the outer and inner turrets on the bottom lane. Here's to being incredibly satisfied with one's decisions!

Hey François if you give me a PM, a bump on Steam(Doomykins) or in #finalfight, I'd be down for playing a match with you to showcase a reasonable(to avoid tooting my own horn here) round of SR with a hero I own like Jarvan. Or just playing a match with ya in general.

I ain't the most social-minded guy at the best of times but I'll try to keep an eye out!

In more "François is terrible at evaluating potential" news, I tried Cass on Dominion, just to see exactly how bad she'd be at it. Of course I was the MVP by more than 300 points, and I went 14/9/20. Never even got that many kills with her on an entire SR match. She almost plays like a ranged AD carry but everything she does is either AOE or comes at least twice a second. People are terrified of setting foot into Miasma because they know that's the first step into the Rape Zone, so you can hold points indefinitely by blocking their ingress and giving them nasty looks.

And still no one ever gets magic resist on Dominion. :whoops:
