Alright. I'm stepping up to say I'll do the ending, because I've already started work on it because it's probably going to take me a long fucking time to do what I want to do.

I might as well disclose that it's going to be a collab thing like Brentai did before, so keep that in mind.

Basically, I want everyone to do a small extra area just like Brentai had us do last time. Make it similar to your main area, but smaller and harder.

As far as how hard, feel free to make hard rooms as long as they're not random and you don't have to repeat them. That should be the golden rule of this knorpse, actually. I'm following it, anyway.

You can make a room as hard as you want, however, the following must be observed:

1. The room is non-random. (I.E. if the player dies, it's his or her fault.)

2. If the room is exceptionally tough/takes a long time to navigate, put a save point immediately preceding and immediately following the room. That way, the player can try the room until he beats it, and once beaten, will not have to endure the challenge again.

3. That being said, try to give your mini-final area a little bit of extra difficulty. This is going to be the end of the game, after all.

I'm only giving out these pointers because I want to avoid player frustration. This is not IWTBG. We are not making IWTB the knorpse. The point of this knorpse is to be enjoyable and fun for all players. I learned this lesson the hard way the last time around, as 90% of the bullshit rooms were mine.

Actually, you know what, this deserves it's own thread.

Oh wait are we starting right now? Because I'd kind of like to wait until turn order is straightened out.

I don't think we're starting now. I'm just getting a head start because I've got a lot of work to do, and I don't want to hold up the knorpse for a month when I'm the last person to take a turn.

I-I... am pretty close to done, actually--at least with my first part. It turns out I was really excited for this? I can still be moved around, so long as I don't go before double jump or wall climb. Even were I shuffled, I could give those to the player, but I'd rather do as little item fuckery as possible.

So far I have replaced tilesets 122, 156, 255, 40 and 75; and I took song 255 and custom objects 1-16.

I might start working on what Friday wants. Is that the same as what Newbie wanted? re:

I'd love to help out, i've got a lot more free time now, I guess. But I always have a bit of trouble with motivation, probably even more so lately because i've been so depressed all the time.
But I'd like to help if anyone wants me to!

Oh, also!

I'm going to need a "programmer's room" type thing, too. Again, just like Brentai had us do last time.

Three signs, (make sure the text fits) and one room only. They'll all be strung together in the ending. Again, making the room "fit" with the theme of your area is a plus, so the player will know who did what.

Yeah I don't know what Newbie is saying here either. I think we can safely say that each person should only make two areas. Their main area, and then their final mini-area which I will include in my area.

TURN ORDER IS NOW OFFICIALLY FIXED >:(
If you don't like where you are in the order, you should have said something sooner. (If it's a problem, PM me and we'll work something out.)

Not exactly, no. Go ahead and make Friday's thing whenever you have the opportunity.

The second area—well, picture a sausage. Right now, we're making the meat—a mixture of tough protein, some taste-enhancing fat, and accenting spices. However, each of these mixtures has nothing to do with the mixtures other people have made. For the sake of accessibility and presentation, this mixture needs to be packed into an intestinal tube that will connect each mixture to the next.

It's kind of a poor metaphor, but basically once I have all the areas, I'm going to put them in a big map and then each designer will create the transitional connection between two of the unconnected areas.

Ah, okay.

How many maximum custom objects are there? Because I'm up to 17. I'm going to stop, but if there are like 25 I'll tone it down.

I'm taking songs 254 and 253.

Also, I think I'm going to need two single-panel cutscenes, which I haven't fully decided on yet.

Kazz can do the area himself if he wants; I can focus on music.

If anyone wants to use any specific music in their areas, send it to me and I can .ogg-ify it and do any editing or trimming that you want. Otherwise drop me a line saying what sort of feel your area is going to have, or any information you can give me to work off of.

Somebody might get some musical mileage out of The Cave by Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, a brief ambient track ideal for a, well, cave.

Huh, forgot about this:

Since Kazz wanted to LP this one, I figure I'll be doing everyone (especially Zara I am so sorry ;_;) a favour if I am a contributor on the next one of these.

Frocto, do you want in? Because I can add you. It will be easy.

I've been talking to bongo a bit, and he's convinced me that maybe I should have a go at making a simple little area, like 8 screens or so, with no items. It wouldn't be a challenge or anything, because I have no idea about level design. But I'd like to be a part of it! I was gonna use a couple of tilesets, so if you can tell me what numbers I can use, i'd love you!

You can use any tileset you want except for ones people have said they replaced. I think I'm the only person who has done that so far, though—so don't use 122, 156, 255, 40 or 75.

As for level design, it's pretty easy. Don't build something you don't like playing and you should be fine.

Yeah, that's what i'm going for, i've just been playing around with the system, seeing what I can do with it, I have the hang of the basics, Still gotta learn how to do a lot of things, but I can learn those as I play with it. Been adding a lot of tiles to my tileset, too, it's looking fairly alright for a first attempt, I think!

I've used Tileset 250 [I made a whole new tileset on this number], 43 [Unedited], 208 [Unedited] and 78 [Unedited]
And I've put a song in 140 [Not really sure yet about how we're doing music, is it alright to use music you haven't made yourself? If not, i'll just get rid of it.
Also, I put a new Gradient in 221.

I think i'm pretty much done with mine, I know it's a bit premature, but I wanted to get it out of the way while I was excited about the whole idea. :D
The only powerup you'll need is like, high jump or double jump, I mostly just designed it as a little rest area that you can stick on the side of a bigger area after a particularly frustrating bit to let off some steam and relax.
I'm all excited, I was so excited I stayed up until 9 doing this thing, I am mega tired now, though.

Whenever you finish your areas, please send them to me—choose the option to compress the level inside the editor, and then you can either use a filesharing service like sendspace or megaupload, or you can just email it to me directly at jalove AT gmail DOT com.

I'm claiming ambiance (music) 200 through 220. I probably won't use all of those, but I just want to say it now so people use other numbers.

I am having serious doubts Kazz would finish any LP, let alone a Knytt one.
