Have you ever actually pinched yourself, like in old cartoons?  I know last year I was having the weirdest fucking dream and I was like "pinch me, I must be dreaming" and I pinched my arm and it was super weird.  I woke up.  Surprised it actually worked!
I've never tried this, but one time, when I was real little, I was having an awful nightmare and I thought "gosh I hope this is just a dream!" So then I dream that I wake up in my room and I'm like "wooh! glad that wasn't real" and go back to sleep.

Damndest fucking thing.

JD, Elliot and Turk were having another one of their kooky adventures at a Wendy's. Carla's carpooling went awry, of course -- she was assimilated by the Lovecraftian horrors that had possessed her carpoolmates.

Right as one of the winged squid monsters stuffed itself down her throat, the driver said "We're a close-knit group".

I've been playing too many damn zombie games these days.

Between Dead Rising and L4D2, I had a dream of a bunch of us were surviving the zombie apocalypse in a combination of the two games.  One detail that stands out in my mind is Kazz incapped with the Ambassador, trying to headshot the tank.  He died, and I was all too happy to take the weapon from his corpse.

I had an odd dream. Dark Reign: The List - Beta Ray Bill.... For some reason Norman Osborn went after Beta Ray Bill who had teamed up with Sharon Carter(?). It mostly consisted of Beta Ray Bill putting the Dark Avengers in the hurt locker.

So I keep having dreams now where my fish Chomps gets out of his cage and runs around my apartment freely, except he's a fish so he's just swimming through the air.  And when company comes over I have to be like oh god how embarrassing my fish got out of his cage again, this is the worst

Among many other dreams, I had a full supper at a very nice high-end restaurant. It was a bit odd at times (like when we ordered root beers like you would wine, there was a big selection and a root beer sommelier and the one we got had a tag.... nailed to the bottle), but mostly I got to have that fun experience of enjoying a delectable multi-course meal while asleep.

Then Geo came on the boards to post about some classic 80's era anime (not a real one...had kind of a Macross meets Dragon Ball art style) being turned into a new and totally fucked up TV show. At one point the World Leaders Council have taken over the dormant giant alien mecha (that looked like a giant vegeta) from space and claimed it as their headquarters, at which point their arrogance does them in because they turn into in a building made entirely from tentacles that straddles a mile-deep pit of acids. Basically, imagine if HR Giger designed an office block, only it was still fleshy-coloured.

So all these faux-UN guys in Macross-esque uniforms are at work when the obvious happens and the building starts coming to life and destroying them. It was rising up and transforming and most of the council was dead, either crushed inside or cast into the pit below, when I woke up. Which was kind a of a shame, because that's when the hero was supposed to show up to wreck shit.

At first, I thought that was a euphemism for your genitals. And I was horrified. Then I remembered that it's an actual part of the human anatomy and what it was exactly. And I was confused by the logistics of it.

Do you guys ever wake up and wonder why you're in a hotel, and then 2 minutes later realize you're in your own room?

No. You've got brain problems.
I do tend to wake up and forget what year it is. And I'm off by a lot. I glance at a calender and think I've traveled into the future. "Shit, dude! I'm Lottel from 1995! What is going on?!"
But I always know I am in my room.
Or a lady's room.
Or a bench.

Every morning as of 3 weeks ago, I am completely boggled by the word snooze on my alarm.  I look at it and start wondering why my phone is in the wrong language.  The word alarm is starting to go the same way.  Just complete and total jamais vu.

It's been a while since I had dreams full of sprawling architecture, and I missed them.  I was over at my friend's house and the floorplan was mostly taken up by one long, twisty corridor, that was also full of random stuff here and there and very narrow. White carpets, well lit.

I told her it was kind of hard to get around, since she was having a party and her house (and the corridor) were full of people here and there. She agreed.

At some point I went off to get something to eat and wandered onto a red-colored building, some cross between a freeway overpass and a second-level shopping mall. It was a pedestrian footpath with some large impossing traffic road below it, but huge, and outside in the desert somewhere. I went from restaurant to restaurant and couldn't decide what to eat.

Wandering eventually took me to a more hotel-like setting. A glass-walled lounge area led to a field of pools, each oddly shaped. There was a hot tub the width of a normal hot tub, but the length of a pool, and squiggly, like the corridor from the beginning. I walked all the way to the end of it alongside it and stared out at the deepest pool I've ever seen. Nobody was in it, it was dark, and the bottom was covered in thick corroded salt deposits.

One of my friends was there, and reached over and grabbed my glasses (which I haven't worn in years) and bent the frames out of shape while kidding around. His now-wife yelled at him, and I just left, working back through the pool.  I ended up seated at a restaurant in the lounge.  Everything on the menu was 150 dollars, but I was eating with someone my age who said they were the founder of the restaurant, so I figured I'd splurge and not appear cheap.

I wanted the money to count though, so I asked what the best dish was. They said it was the Night Sandwich, and it was only served on the Night Menu. I said "Oh, I'm going to sleep then," and rolled over and curled up in bed further and essentially dropped out of the dream into "trying to sleep". It took me a few moments to realize trying to fall asleep had actually woken me up.

I'm also really hungry now.

I've been having a lot of nightmares again lately, which isn't that unusual.
But the kind of nightmares ARE unusual. (For me)

Normally my typical nightmare is like this: I wake up, I walk around, go about my normal day and I have this feeling of dread. Then something bad happens; faceless, vague monster appears; people die,;I finally lose my shit; scream my head off and wake up.

This latest batch? I won't go to much into details as they vary quite a bit but the themes are the same. Good day goes bad, stranger with a face, very recognizable "enemy," no screaming, and no deaths. (Well people may die, but they die off screen)

The weird thing is I've never had a nightmare that's not like the first example. Hell, I've hardly had a dream that didn't happen like that. Very strange.

I had a dream I went to see a play with a really hot female lead.

Anyway, it was the most predictable twist in a story ever! Stop being so damn predictable, brain.

Basically, it was a sci-fi where everyone was perfect and beautiful and this secret agent lady ran into a huge, ugly monster. Basically Swamp Thing on a bad day. The government were after him, so she protected him and had showdowns with government agents, blasting loads of them with her ray gun. etc etc

In the end, the government sent their specialist guy out to get the monster and he deploys some weird disease thing that makes the monster get sick and die. Soldiers barge in and he confronts the girl and he delivered a twist that I found obnoxious even while I was dreaming it:

The monster is the last living human being, mutated irreparably by damage mankind has done to the environment and he was being kept secret by the government so they could clone healthy, but sterile humans from him. He got free, so THEY HAD TO KILL HIM :( :( :( There was also some silly happy ending where it turned out the last human thing had delivered its DNA to the girl somehow and she could have babies now, but she kept it a secret from the government and they let her go. Hooray!

Like I said, the actress who played the main girl was a total hotty and I wanted to go and chat her up after the play, but all I could think of was how fucking dumb the story and how she probably thought it was a clever twist with a deep message.

Anyway, I was actually considering using the story for a roleplaying game, but it really is just too awful, I think. Maybe if it turned out the monster was a clone of the original monster or it had been the girl's plan all along, but she'd GIVEN HERSELF AMNESIA, I could sort of wallow in the badness, but if I want a ham-fisted, blatantly predictable environmental message, I can watch Avatar again.

I have a list of "food I made up in a dream" now. Night Sandwich is going on it along with the chocolate-dipped bagel and "Peanut Butter Society"

I dreamed that I was talking with MCE and she showed me a picture of where she worked, but it looked like a used bookstore, not an auditor's office. There were little figurines everywhere on the shelves of knights and stuff. Also a Bruce Lee action figure.

Anyway, I was actually considering using the story for a roleplaying game, but it really is just too awful, I think. A better twist would have been that the monster really WAS a monster, but she'd already used his genetic scrapings to impregnate herself!
