It's been a while since I had dreams full of sprawling architecture, and I missed them. I was over at my friend's house and the floorplan was mostly taken up by one long, twisty corridor, that was also full of random stuff here and there and very narrow. White carpets, well lit.
I told her it was kind of hard to get around, since she was having a party and her house (and the corridor) were full of people here and there. She agreed.
At some point I went off to get something to eat and wandered onto a red-colored building, some cross between a freeway overpass and a second-level shopping mall. It was a pedestrian footpath with some large impossing traffic road below it, but huge, and outside in the desert somewhere. I went from restaurant to restaurant and couldn't decide what to eat.
Wandering eventually took me to a more hotel-like setting. A glass-walled lounge area led to a field of pools, each oddly shaped. There was a hot tub the width of a normal hot tub, but the length of a pool, and squiggly, like the corridor from the beginning. I walked all the way to the end of it alongside it and stared out at the deepest pool I've ever seen. Nobody was in it, it was dark, and the bottom was covered in thick corroded salt deposits.
One of my friends was there, and reached over and grabbed my glasses (which I haven't worn in years) and bent the frames out of shape while kidding around. His now-wife yelled at him, and I just left, working back through the pool. I ended up seated at a restaurant in the lounge. Everything on the menu was 150 dollars, but I was eating with someone my age who said they were the founder of the restaurant, so I figured I'd splurge and not appear cheap.
I wanted the money to count though, so I asked what the best dish was. They said it was the Night Sandwich, and it was only served on the Night Menu. I said "Oh, I'm going to sleep then," and rolled over and curled up in bed further and essentially dropped out of the dream into "trying to sleep". It took me a few moments to realize trying to fall asleep had actually woken me up.
I'm also really hungry now.
