I actually have worked on my portion of the level, but unfortunately I hit writer's (Knytter's?) block some weeks in. It's pretty substantial, relatively speaking, but I don't have it anywhere near a completed state. I may work on some smaller projects to get out of this funk.

I got six screens in before I (coincidentally) hit a creative depression I haven't seen in years! I know what direction I'm taking for this zone, though, and I'm certain I can pull it off. We're looking at 15-20 screens, maybe? Depends on how many screens I can make interesting with just a basic jump at the player's disposal.

9 screens so far.  That seems pretty low but I don't seem to do very well when I force myself to sit and work on it; if I keep it open somewhere and idly splash ideas onto it, I end up with some very pretty stuff.  Expect this Valvetime pace to continue for a while, but at least my vector isn't negative-to-zero any more.

I was thinking about it today, and I'd really like to be finished with this thing before my wedding on November 7, which is 93 days away. Under "traditional" Exquisite Knorpse structure, our 14 participants would average at least one week each, giving us a probable minimum of 98 days, plus any extra time for stuff like Friday's bonus rooms, etc. On the other hand, we actually began the official knytting process a month ago; on the first hand again, when I say we should finish "by my wedding" I naturally mean well beforehand, as I'm going to be getting stupidly busy with preparations.

As far as my own progress goes, I finished my custom items and I'm about half-done with my tileset, although I'm still dissatisfied with a few of my patterns. I've been working on my layout, but since I keep changing the way my layers are designed to overlap, I've had to basically remake these rooms three times now. It's slow going.

Hahahaha. Man, it figures that I'd finally find the visual aesthetic I'm looking for right when I absolutely have to stop working on this in order to clean up the apartment before my future in-laws arrive from Michigan for the next four days. I knew what I wanted to make, but I couldn't figure out how to portray it; last night I hit on the method, but it's labor-intensive and I'm probably going to be taking 3 or 4 tilesets by the time I'm done.

On the plus-side, I think it looks awesome, and the layout tests perfectly manifest the kind of gameplay I'm trying to make. Maybe you guys with creative block should commit to a bunch of other obligations next week so we can try to reproduce the experiment.

Yeah, what he said. I'm making progress but things are kind of stressful on the home front right now, which is a part of why I've been neglecting my prodding-related duties around here.

What started as a two-part project became a three-part project, not counting Friday's rooms.  I've got one part mostly tacked down and another half done, but I also haven't done damn shit in like a week on account of BLAR BLAR LEMME LONE WORKING

Hopefully the clouds will depart and a ray of light will descend and fill me with a burst of insanity creativity so I can finish it all up.  Eh.  Nah.

Man, in my PM to Friday I tried to describe my intentions with my main area and my sub area, and now that I'm actually consciously thinking about what each one's going to entail, it occurs to me that my sub-area is going to be a lot more involved than I'd originally envisioned. I'm finally satisfied with my intended design; now I just have to fucking make it.

It's taking longer than anticipated to find my copy of Windows XP. I'm going to check my old roommate's house; if it isn't there, I'll probably be taking my computer in for repair on Thursday. Until I fix Windows, I don't have any ability to work on this. :( :( :(

I know from experience that Knytt Stories and its editor both run very well under Wine. If you're desperate, stick some Linux or other on your machine and run it that way.

The good news is that I'm not going to lose any progress on my level. The bad news is that the progress on my level is inaccessible until I either find my copy of Windows that my roommates thought was theirs and loaned out to somebody they can't remember, or until I somehow extract the key from my corrupted drive in order to use somebody else's copy to install on my new hard drive.

Oh hey word of warning I am gonna be somewhat MIA for the next month
more than I usually am I guess

I won't live in the same house as norondor anymore so no more telling me to tell him things

I should be able to work on connecty passages if by some stroke of divine will that becomes a thing
given the existing timeframe for the levels i should be fine, right? right
just dont expect me to reply right away like i would have before
