The Thing Returns (PT)

I'm going to be sending out roles now. The game will not start until all players have checked in on their anonymous accounts.

MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT. DO NOT REUSE AN OLD ALTERNATE ACCOUNT. PEOPLE CAN FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE.

You might not care if everyone knows who you are, but each person who is known makes it easier for others to figure out who's who. It's a minor point, but please humor me on this one. Part of the magic of last game was the anonymous nature.

ONLY POST HERE USING YOUR ALTERNATE ACCOUNT.

Again, this game will not start until all players have checked in. Feel free to do that now.

CHECK IN WITH YOUR ALTERNATE ACCOUNT. NEVER POST HERE WITH YOUR NORMAL ACCOUNT.

By the way, if you do happen to fuck up and post here with your normal account (or your alternate account elsewhere, both happened a number of times last game) you should take down the post as soon as possible. If you notice immediately, then feel free to repost with the same text, otherwise, don't, as it will give it away.

Rules thread here.

Please, please, please, read and familiarize yourself with these. At least read your own role. It is crucial to understand exactly how the roles interact.

For those returning players from last game, the only rule changes are the following:

1. Dynamite may no longer be thrown on day 1.

2. 48 hour day/night limits just like before, but now each player may declare Hammertime once per game to extend the day 24 hours. This may be done any number of times per day, but again, only once per player. At the end of the timer, if a majority vote has not been reached, the player with the most votes for them will be tested. In case of a tie, I will roll it off.

ALSO: Hey, look, it looks like we can't upload avatars. So if we want a nifty picture, we run the risk of giving ourselves away.

ALSO ALSO: probably won't come up in this game, but you need to do the captcha in order to alter text. I think that's kind of dumb.

THE THING (Complete Blood Test Scene) - Kurt Russell

We can now begin the game.

Twelve players find themselves alone in the cold. Something moves among them.

R. J. MacReady, Helicopter pilot
Dr. Blair, a station biologist
Childs, the station's mechanic
Nauls, the station's cook
Palmer, the station's backup helicopter pilot and mechanic
Dr. Copper, the station's physician
Vance Norris, the station's geophysicist
George Bennings, the station's meteorologist
Clark, the station's wrangler who takes the "thing" dog in when it arrives
Garry, the station commander
Fuchs, the station's other biologist
Windows, the station's radio operator

The player whose name appears in bold each day has the extra test. (In this case, Palmer) They may use this test at their discretion, and the results are immediate. However, if they do not use this test before the day is over, the test is lost. They may test themselves.

In addition, each day has a vote test, reached by majority vote. With 12 players, it takes 7 votes to test.

Dynamite may not be thrown today.

It is now day 1.

Good luck to all players!

The 48 hour timer starts now. Remember, each player may, once per game, declare Hammertime in order to extend the current day 24 hours.

Well Palmer, you were a Thing in the movie, you were a Thing in the last game too I believe, and I think I saw you smile a little when they locked me out in the equipment shed. So are you gonna test yourself and prove that you're not a Thing or are you just a quiet, chicken shit little alien! *RAWR*

Charges palmer with an axe before being restrained and sedated while screaming and muttering "He'll kill us, he'll copy all of us to get what he wants!"






Alright look, I'm all better now. I really am much better now. Now just untie me and we can talk about what worked well last game. Did the person with the test testing themselves end up proving that usefull before. I'm gonna check.

All right, motherfuckers.  I know you'll disagree, cause you a pack of stupid motherfuckers, but listen up.  I propose the following system of alien testology.


1. We pick one (or, in today's case, two) totally random target(s).


Cause the fucking alien is just gonna try to get non-things tested and mess with our motherfuckin' minds.  I don't think any of you have any better idea what's goin on than anybody else, and if you claim to then you is probably a motherfuckin' alien.


2. After today, we always pick at least one random target from among those already tested.


The best people for the creature to target is the people we already think are human.  So we have to stay one step ahead and make sure that ain't nobody safe for them to turn into a motherfuckin' monster.  It may seem like a waste of time to you, but you are fucking stupid and I'm used to that.

Last but not least, I propose the Failsafe Option.

If we get down to almost nobody's still fuckin' alive, you should activate a Failsafe Option.  We can work out the particulars together even though probably most of you motherfuckers is stupid and the other half is aliens, but at least we'll agree.

Once active, the Failsafe dictates that, as long as we know there's at least one flamethrower still alive, everybody with dynamite has got to throw it.  You gots to.  Don't matter at who, just throw it.  If you kill a Thing, you're clear for the day and whatever flamethrowers are left can ignore your punk ass and kill some fuckin' aliens.

Gots to be real fuckin' dire situation for the Failsafe, but we should have the option.  Cause people is gonna be fuckin' stupid and we got to lead 'em around like children.

.. of course, now that I think about it, the situation is even MORE dire when both the flamethrowers are gone.. aw sheeeeit.
