Fortinbras you might want to hold back on some of that crazy ice cream. Your avatar is clearly stressing out about those pictures an awful lot.

You're right, but I found a better solution.  The old avatar was pretty stressed in general, I've sent her off on vacation.  As a replacement, this is a Rule 63 that somebody drew of me.

I feel like a bit of an asshole only posting occasionally, and then only in my own self indulgent project-thread, but I've been busy as fuck lately.

Potato ice cream presents a really interesting challenge: it has to taste enough like potato, and has to melt like ice cream.  Melting is a huge part of ice cream's appeal, if it just stays viscous then it's nothing but a mouthful of cold-ass glop.  So you can't just pile in mashed potatoes until it tastes right.  You gotta get the flavor from somewhere else.  I think I'd wash and blanch the skins, then infuse them into the ice cream base.  I will probably do that one sometime.

This week's is up.

R^2, have they shown you the arcane art of one spoon quenelling yet?  Mine turn out ugly sometimes, I wonder if there might be a trick to it that I haven't quite mastered.

And by the way, next week's ice cream is Crunk Juice.

Swish the spoon through boiling water first, and build the quinelle up the side of the bowl. That's all I know.

While the "beverage" in question has no set recipe, beyond "Kool-aid knock-off (preferably purple) + more sugar + whatever hazardous chemicals are under the sink/in your garage/wherever you can steal them!", yes, the terms apply to the same "beverage".

I am not certain if Fort will survive making Drano Ice Cream, but I was impressed by his effort nonetheless.

Wait, now I don't know much about the 'rap culture' (actually I probably know more than a lot of you, what with the mexican) but I thought crunk juice was just Red Bull and Hennessey Cognac? And Purple Drank is just codeine and promethazine cough syrup mixed with sprite.

I can't say for sure that you're not right about Crunk Juice, but Purple Drank morphed into a true nightmare of a drink after stating out as the recipe you listed above.

For the worst dregs of the Deep South Hip-Hop bunch, it literally became "how fast can you mix shit that will kill you with kool-aid and enough sugar to disguise the taste of brake fluid and bleach?". I mean, I suspect that only the minority was doing shit that bad, but it's not like there was an official recipe keeper and enough people were trying ridiculous shit that it was well-known in Baltimore anyway.

This post would've been so much more relevant in December, but I just wanted to know if anyone else made snow ice cream

ingredients:

sweetened condensed milk
snow

directions:

mix

After it's in the freezer for a while, it typically turns into a hard solid, but then you can just scrape it off and it's still delightful.

(also I had some hiland Dulce de Leche recently that was absolutely larruping)

I would never eat snow ice cream after learning that snow is often composed of particulate matter (dirt, coal dust, sand, etc) suspended in ice crystals.
