Hanlon's Razor says he was probably just being ridiculously incompetent and lazy rather than actually malicious.  Although to be honest, his known attitude (and that of his constituents) towards "handout" institutions and his weird SUPER SECRET conversations with the actual people receiving handouts makes it hard to believe he was just there for political brownie points.

This is a situation where "He wanted to poison hobos for fun" seems to actually be a more rational conclusion than "He wanted people to think he cares about the disenfranchised."

Quote
“They showed up there and they did not have permission,” Brian J. Antal, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society, told CBS News. “They got one of the volunteers to open up the doors.”

The article said that the head of the soup kitchen wasn't there at the time. Do you think they told the new guy working there that they had a photo opportunity arranged or something, and no one high up enough was around to call them on it? I picture them driving around to every soup kitchen in town in a van and trying that in the hopes they'd find someone gullible or easily-intimidated to let them in. A very Randian strategy.

Seems more likely that if a Vice-Presidential hopeful knocks on your door, most lower-level volunteers wouldn't think/have the guts to say "No"

What's this thing where the candidates look at each other, then ask and answer each other's questions? It's weird.

It's pretty entertaining, yeah.

I'm waiting for complete transcripts to quote and reaction image appropriately.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Libya question just sank Mitt Romney.

Quote
ROMNEY: I — I think interesting the president just said something which — which is that on the day after the attack he went into the Rose Garden and said that this was an act of terror.
OBAMA: That's what I said.
ROMNEY: You said in the Rose Garden the day after the attack, it was an act of terror.
It was not a spontaneous demonstration, is that what you're saying?
OBAMA: Please proceed governor.
ROMNEY: I want to make sure we get that for the record because it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of terror.
OBAMA: Get the transcript.
CROWLEY: It — it — it — he did in fact, sir. So let me — let me call it an act of terror...
OBAMA: Can you say that a little louder, Candy?
CROWLEY: He — he did call it an act of terror. It did as well take — it did as well take two weeks or so for the whole idea there being a riot out there about this tape to come out. You are correct about that.

Romney put his foot in it more times than I could count. I love the bit about having a hard time finding a qualified woman for a job, and how they need to be flexible about finding time to prepare meals. That was inches away from a kitchen/sandwich crack. I'm also a huge fan of "Of course they add up!" And then never coming anywhere near touching on how they add up. Just... it had me rolling.

Ultimately what's going to hurt Romney the most is that the person boxing him into corners was the moderator.

You don't think that will just result in cries of "Liberal bias!"?

I have no doubt that it will. I just don't think those cries will matter worth a damn.

Where can I watch the video of this debate?

Youtube Politics seem to be on the ball for these debates, I've watched them all from there. The Al-Jazeera stream in particular, even; feels like they have their shit together in the pre-and post-shows and I like the outsider perspective they got going on. Any other outlet mention live how the Green Party candidates were arrested just outside the premises? (They might have, I'm just curious.)
