Well, sort of.  That was an FCC regulation and obviously a weak one; I'm talking more about a federal campaign rule here.  That's a lot harder for FOX News to smugly flaunt its disdain for.

I've known I didn't want Romney to be president ever since his response to the "enhanced interrogation techniques" question during one of the 2008 Republican debates.

Not really.  Karl Rove still works there, doesn't he?

I could never vote for the guy based entirely on how he treats his pets.

Lying in a campaign ad is pretty mild compared to torturing both dogs and humans.

At another point last night, Huntsman took some rivals to task after they suggested strengthening sanctions against Iran to get the country to abandon any pursuit of a nuclear weapon.

“We have nuclearization in Iran. Centrifuges spinning. At some point, they’re going to have enough in the way of fissile material out of which to make a weapon. That’s a certainty,” said Huntsman.

“We had a discussion earlier tonight about sanctions. Everybody commented on sanctions; sanctions aren’t going to work. I hate to break it to you. They’re not going to work because the Chinese aren’t going to play ball and the Russians aren’t going to play ball.

“And I believe Iran has already - the mullahs have already decided they want to go nuclear. Why? They have looked at North Korea.

“They’ve got a weapon. Nobody touches them. They look at Libya. Libya gave up their weapon in exchange for friendship with the world. Look where they are,” Huntsman concluded.

It might be the best or the worst possible thing that Huntsman is a man who is basically advocating preemptive war with a third nation and still makes perfect sense to me.

You know, attacking Iran would be a stupid idea for any number of reasons, but I sure am fucking tired of the "North Korea is untouchable so everyone wants nuclear weapons!" argument.

North Korea is not untouchable because they have nukes (Hell, I'd give you 50 percent odds of their one nuke exploding on the launch pad if they DID try to fire it. The other 50% was just them faking their nuke tests by blowing up a shit-ton of conventional explosives deep underground), North Korea is untouchable because they literally* live up China's asshole.

North Korea is untouchable because, really, who cares? I doubt the Chinese would raise a finger to help them, and they have no mineral resources worth exploiting.

I'm sure the South Koreans would love to make them all go away permanently.

Except any open conflict with North Korea would have the opposite effect.

Welp, Newt Gingrich is sane on immigration.  We'll be talking about the next frontrunner before Daily Show even has a chance to dress John Oliver up like a Dickensian street urchin.

And, like all villains, he's destroyed by his own remaining human sentiments:

Apparently Arpaio has endorsed Perry, which is odd considering that the only issue the former cares about is the only issue the latter is moderate on.

Will it make a difference?  I doubt it.  It might bring back a few Perry supporters who dumped him on finding out that he didn't hate Mexicans enough, but he's pretty much done.

What about Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, and Jon Huntsman?

Okay, okay, just Newt Gingrich.

It kind of enrages me that they've got Bachmann but not Huntsman.

Or Obama.

GOFFSTOWN, N.H. - Visiting college campus here on a campaign stop, Texas Gov. Rick Perry gave his young audience a good reason to stay in school. Appealing for their votes, the Republican presidential contender today asked for the support of the students who will be 21 by the election on Nov. 12.

...See, it NEEDS to be 21 because dumb college students are dumb and don't know how to vote properly.

Anybody else catch this incredibly clever bit?

Quote
Gingrich even elicited praise from his ex-nemesis, Bill Clinton, who told an interviewer on Monday: “He’s articulate and he tries to think of a conservative version of an idea that will solve a legitimate problem.”

Newt Gringrich calls for every American to start taking responsibility while in Iowa.

You know, that's something I've wanted a candidate to come out and say for a very, very long time.  I just wish it hadn't come out of the mouth of the perfect platonic form of personal irresponsibility given material subtance in the form of a humanoid being.
