Dear News Media,

"A bunch of Republicans endorse the guy who is going to be the Republican candidate for President" is not actually news.

"Rick Santorum still saying negative and potentially damaging things about the guy who is going to be the Republican candidate for President" is barely news.

"Prominent Republicans are refusing to grant an endorsement to Romney" isn't really news YET.  If it's still happening by convention time, THEN it's news.

ACTUAL news is when someone endorses somebody they're not expected to.  Colin Powell endorsing Obama qualifies.  Joe Lieberman endorsing McCain...well, I GUESS that qualifies, for some definitions of "expect".

So the Republicans have their panties in a bunch over a campaign ad suggesting Romney wouldn't have killed bin Laden given the chance.

Obviously, that is unacceptable; you should only use Bin Laden in a political ad if you're running against a triple-amputee war hero.

Nothing lances the GOP like the God Damn Truth. Also with Obama deflating their own jokes, this could be a really great election season after all.

Weeeeell, and the merits of the ad aren't even what gets me about this so much as the Republicans crying about politicizing Bin Laden strikes me as being roughly as sincere as if Charles Manson were to tell John Hinckley he shouldn't have read so damn much into that movie he saw.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

I think I covered that when I said "West Virginia".

When you're talking about the American penal system, especially in West Virginia, you do need to specify.

West Virginians hate Obama so much, that almost 40% would rather vote in the Democratic Primary for a random yahoo in who's been in a Federal Penitentiary for years.

Well. It IS West Virginia.

Sometimes I find it hard not to agree with my batshit insane conservative friends who think there should be IQ requirements for voting, but then I remember that they're batshit insane. And then I weep for reality.

Being smart is not the barrier to believing batshit insane things that smart people like to believe it is.

IQ measures pattern recognition, not critical thinking.  It's just as easy if not easier to manipulate a person with a high IQ and a typical streak of intellectual laziness.

The news media seems really desperate to paint this election as competitive, but I don't think anyone's been in for more of a paddlin' since Dole.
