Michele Bachmann Soviet Union "On The Rise"?

Here's something with the audio.  Come for the Bachmann quote, leave for the TYT commentary.

Soviet/ USSR Anthem [Red Army Choir]!

According to this profile of Jon Huntsman in The American Conservative, he's not quite as moderate as he appears. And yet, he's still the only Republican candidate I'd vote for over Barack Obama. If he doesn't somehow miraculously manage to win the nomination, I may end up voting third party again like I did in 2004.

I'm looking forward to a repeat of the 2000 election.

He's not the least bit moderate.*  People just call him "moderate" because the word has come to mean "capable of rational thought and compromise."

I don't know enough about the guy to approve or disapprove, but if he really can get the point across to his own people that, hey, you can do more for conservatism by framing it in a way that's attractive to everybody instead of doing some sort of foam-finger waving, ramrod fuck-you bullshit through Congress against the wishes of the supermajority of the people, then yeah let's give him a few years to try and work with us.

* Reading a little bit more, moderate is exactly what he is.  He seems to take the compromised viewpoint on almost everything.  Still don't know enough to say anything solid but right this moment he really does look better than a standard Democrat.

According to this profile of Jon Huntsman in The American Conservative, he's not quite as moderate as he appears.

Pro-gun, pro-tax-cut, somewhat-but-not-completely-anti-choice, pro-civil union, pro-immigration-reform, pro-environment, anti-foreign-intervention IS pretty moderate for a modern Republican.  Course, as Goldwater noted in '96, HE would be pretty moderate for a modern Republican.

I could see voting for him if I could vote in a Republican primary.  In a hypothetical situation where he were up against Obama and my state weren't a Republican lock, well, as I've said recently I have a hard time discerning whether we're better with a center-right consensus builder or a center-left polarizer, but am beginning to seriously suspect the former.

His record on choice makes it hard for me to say I'd vote for him.  But at this point it's hard for me to say I'd vote for Obama.

somewhat-but-not-completely-anti-choice

This is why I like him; Roe v. Wade clearly makes him snarl, gnash his teeth, stomp around, twirl his mustache and scream "CURSES!" every night, but he works around it instead of trying to attack it like everyone else does; he knows the importance of a standing agreement between parties, rather than taking a "fuck everyone who disagrees with me" attitude towards it.

That said, his workaround laws kind of warrant the Snidely metaphor up there and in some cases do actually break the tryst, so uh, eh.

Right, precisely.

There are some cases where third-trimester abortions ARE necessary; making them felonies could endanger lives.

Carter's pretty much the gold standard: he's personally opposed to abortion on religious grounds but was able to separate his religious views from his duties as President, and chose instead to provide support to children in low-income families (such as WIC).

I just realized what Herman Cain reminded me of: that episode of Futurama where Leela became a professional Blurnsball player because she could hit people in the face really hard with balls.

Not for me.
When the Hindenberg disaster occurred, my dreams of a flying zeppelin city were crushed.

I don't have any particular dreams that this crushes.

Pffft.

Perry's campaign was over the moment he was overtaken in the polls by the guy who runs Godfather's Pizza and openly makes comments about hating the poor. This video represents the death march of a man who just don't give a fuck anymore.

Got a debate coming up? Pop a couple of quaaludes, get on stage and call it a fucking night, hoping you don't say anything racist or sexist before you crash.

You know, I've had a hard time explaining what, if any, differences there are between the Democratic and Republican parties. But thankfully Herman Cain and Anthony Weiner have been here to finally point me in the right direction.

A few months back, Anthony Weiner was quickly and brutally kicked out of the party and the House for sending consensual, non-explicit pictures to a woman he'd been messaging for months but had never met. Nancy Pelosi quickly insisted that Weiner retire as soon as she got any whiff of Weiner's involvement in the non-sex scandal.

Herman Cain, on the other hand, weather a sexual harassment allegation with the support of each demagogue and partisan in the Republican party. In fact, they still maintained that he was Presidential Materialâ„¢ up until about four women started coming forward and his numbers started dipping in the polls. At which point they very slightly began to change course and turn on him.

So the difference between the two parties is that the Democrats will punish you for loving women too much, and the Republicans will laud you for hating them just enough.
