My first online match. I only got about ten minutes of playtime before I had to do other stuff, but initial impression is that it's pretty awesome but suffers from the most retarded player base I've ever seen.

I was expecting a DotA style match-up and not standard FPS servers, I'm kind of disappointed that people are expected to come and go during games but really it just makes it easier to not take a round too seriously. Back to the bad player base. I know pubbies always suck otherwise they'd have people to play with, but this was my first online game after one practice round with the sniper offline. I come in to my team being dominated (enemy sniper gunned me down shortly after leaving spawn for the first time before I even got a round off) and by the time I left I was at the top of the scoreboard and we were pushing their money ball. Now, that may seem like bragging but most of you here have played TF2 with me and know I am really not very good at online shooters.

Juice is insane. I didn't think much of it as a sniper since I figured it just made my one-two hit kills into insta-kills, but each of the three times I got it (in ten minutes) I was able to run in with the SMG and take out any enemy bot or player I saw, including a tank / assault combo 2v1 with no bots around.

Anyway, I've seen people on every night which is why I got the thing, so I'll wait until after a Bronto match to see how much of it is ridiculously bad players and how much is just ridiculousness of the game itself.

The main problem I see is that very few players really get what the fuck is going on. They run around trying to find players to kill, sitting on $1k because they don't know how to spend it to benefit their team, and generally ignoring the whole point of the thing.

I tend to see players not knowing how/when to defend and not understanding that teamwork is crucial. People run off on their own with no support from anyone and then an assassin (or better yet, a team of assassins) grapple them before they can do anything.

I've been playing an hour + each night, though I haven't found any good servers. I'm available pretty much whenever though.

The Annihilator really exemplifies that player base doesn't understand the game. I always expect some big fight over it, but nope just gonna waddle over there as support doodeedooooo.

From my understanding it used to be worse in the pre-patch 360 days as Mikey Cantor didn't announce when it had recharged. That must've been pretty awful.

Gunners shooting bots with their minigun is also another good example! (this makes me die a little inside)

I feel a deep pain in my chest every time I see an assassin shuriken a jackbot. Also it's fun to see assassins grapple someone and walk away as if nothing happened because teamwork is more or less nonexistent.

I feel like the annihilator is meant to be game balancing, so when one team is getting beat pretty badly they can hit it to kinda even the tables, but in my experience when the game is really poorly balanced the team that is winning is always on the annihilator anyway.

So when are we getting a private server or 2 up so we can play with people that aren't total idiots.

There seems to be a contradiction in what you just said, I just can't seem to put my finger on it.

If a internet game requires teamplay to win, then we've already lost.

I just figured the same people that used to frequent Shadow Moses would probably also enjoy this game, although Shadow Moses has been pretty dead it seems.

Also has anyone ever looked through the ini files? I tried to find a way to bind the dpad_left to talk and oh god it's a maze. Some of the comments are really disheartening, too. "None of this makes any sense but if we don't include it nothing in the game works" and there are at least 3 input inis, none of which seem to do jack shit.

thirty seconds in my first online game, i see an assassin swording a friendly sniper, who is running backwards and attempting to defend himself with his smg

i take out the assassin, get awarded with an assist, and am immediately accused of being a "cunting killstealer"

sorry dude, i'll try to stop being a team player in your vicinity

no promises tho

i'm a cunt like that

as time went on, i realized that nobody else on either team was spending money on turrets so my participation won us the match despite how we were one man short

i was the one level 6 on a server of 20s to 40s

Otherwise yeah, this is a fun little game that I would probably enjoy playing in the company of people of average-or-higher intelligence.

I've probably already been a little obnoxious about this, but is anyone else still up for a 4-pack?  I'm basically only getting this game so I can set up a server fo you guys.

That's okay.  If you have a gift give it to somebody who's actually anywhere near hard up.

I was just hoping for a win-win-win-win scenario, here.

so i had been bringing the pain as a gunner, leading the scoreboard on a losing team five times in a row

so i'm like

why even bring my A game at this point

i'll just pick a class i'm terrible at and practice it instead

so i pick tank

and proceed to be, quite objectively, the Worst Tank

and i still lead the scoreboards

words cannot express the :fail:

how did these inbred assmonkeys even figure out how to skip the goddamn tutorial

Welcome to Monday Night Combat, where no matter what you do, your team will try to negate whatever work you have done.

As long as you have one person willing to defend and one person you know can actually push a lane you will win every round ever.

Unfortunately pubbies can do neither of these things.
