All it does is tie your PSN to your Steam account for the purposes of Portal 2. This gives you access to the Steam overlay, letting you view both Steam and PSN friends, and playing co-op cross platform. It's DRM as a service, the way Steam always is, but that's a side effect.  I don't know if a used copy could play co-op over PSN alone after being tied to a Steam account, we'll have to wait for the cry threads on /v/ to find out all the details.

Seems the AG players are getting pissed that the early release thing is flopping and are firing off subject lines spoilers. Stay off the forums if you haven't gone there yet.

Play Audiosurf today and pick Still Alive from the Orange Box soundtrack.

By the way, the "potatos are multipliers" thing is bullshit. It just appeared at one point in the irc channel and nobody could tell where it came from.

We're at 5 hours, 30 minutes between the two laucnh times.

15 hours until portal.

I bet that as long as potatoes last, time played counts for more than it used to.

All games are "overclocked" right now. Seems like focus has been shifted to Killing Floor, since it is by far the hardest bar to move, and it's making really good progress. Looks like we'll probably get Portal 2 this evening.

There appears to be a map in the preload data that is not present at all in the console versions

Valve decided to update steam because Mac users were having problems updating TF2 or some shit. The update, which doesn't solve any problems I've experienced at all, broke Portal 2 while it was decrypting. I just spent 2 hours trying to fix Steam and Portal 2, and the end result is that I had to delete Portal 2 and reinstall it just to be able to launch Steam. So now I'm the only person awake not playing Portal 2.

About the store, I mean.

The dialog is nice.

But the store and the fact that it went "hey! You have hats in TF2! Let's import some of them"

Just sent me into stitches.

Also people who got the Golden Potato got the Valve COmplete Pack for free. Which includes Portal 2.

Store, eh? I guess that's PC. PS3 has no mention of store. And the Steam Overlay is kinda odd.  I mean, it's even more barebones than I assumed.

EDIT: Just checked it out on PC.
Um. I don't have any hats. What's the dealio? It didn't load anything.

Only specific hats work, apparently.

Hats that I have/have seen in screenshots of others that work:
Master's Belt
Tyrant's Helm
Pyro's Beanie
Mann Co Cap.
Fancy Fedora

i kind of want a $10 rebate because the game has a store, but i'm not going to complain about anything else otherwise

the single-player is fun, but trying to figure out the topography of co-op kind of makes me feel like i'm getting dots in Correspondence just thinking about it

I just finished the campaign and my head is completely full of fuck. What the hell just happened? Whatever it was it was amazing.

Valve put stores in their games because people kept asking for it. Now get off your high horse so I can club you to death.

EDITED: I am a dumb. well, sorta. The wording was strange. Unfortunately, I had to go through a bunch of small print to find.

Code: [Select]
Note:  Game saves and progress from a PlayStation®3 are incompatible with   other platforms (i.e. Windows or Mac). Steam Cloud data from a   PlayStation®3 can only be used with another PlayStation®3 logged in to   the same PSN ID.
Save files stored on Steam Cloud for your PSN ID will not interfere   with Steam Cloud save files stored for your Windows or OSX computer.

Which is NOT what it sounded like. Disappointed.

That was a damn good game. I don't regret not sleeping at all!

But apparently I'm blind, because what's this about a store?
