Super Mario Sunshine vs New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Did Super Mario Galaxy not even cross your mind here?

Galaxy is kind of Super Mario 64 in space.
It really is kind of weird to judge what the standard of normality for 3D Mario games is since there's only been a few of them, but I'd still say Sunshine was still more out there than Galaxy 1 or 2 was.

The only franchise I can think of that got noticeably weirder when it moved to Wii was Paper Mario, and Super Paper Mario is a travesty.

I dunno, getting a Super Star as Peach and using that super-fugly giant 8-Bit sprite to smash things was pretty fun.

Making it mandatory to hit the same block 100 times and run in a hamster wheel for six minutes sure wasn't!

SPM had some neat elements, but something about it in general just felt really uninspired. I just did not give a fuck throughout the entire game.

I'm not saying Super Paper Mario was good, but you were supposed to cheat at those.

That is doing it via cheating. No matter what you're going to have to hit that block 100 times and run on that wheel for six minutes. You can make the ordeal longer, but you can't make it any shorter than that.

And I would definitely say that Metroid Prime/Other M belong on that list.

erm, didn't they nuke Raccoon City?  Are they going to stuff another operation into the fairly short window of the outbreak?

Operation: Raccoon City takes place between games 2 and 3, and retcons some events as well as giving you the option to change the history yourself (Wikipedia says you can kill Leon S. Kennedy).

To be honest I've only played Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and Umbrella Chronicles. The others look clunky (except for 5, which looks like a not-as-great version of 4), but this game just looks awesome. I'm also hoping for some great multiplayer, with new modes based on the find/destroy evidence objectives.

Ubisoft E3 2011 - Mr. Caffeine

This is awful. Just awful. But at least it gave us this.

A perfect allegory for Ubisoft's 2011 conference - long, repetitive, painfully mediocre.

Well, Nintendo had the lowest epic count, at a record-setting zero utterances of the word "epic," so I think that makes them the winner.

How many games did Microsoft and Sony publish last year with "Epic" in the title?

the real winner is PC gamers.

In that there was no one to embarrass them, patronize them, or even acknowledge their existence?

Well, that's not to say PC developers won't be represented. Just that they weren't in the conferences.

This looks neat.
