I think you're all ignoring the obvious multiplayer in that trailer, which made me pop a huge boner with neon lights on the side that said "VANILLAWARE DOES GUARDIAN HEROES".

EDIT: Published by Ignition Entertainment? Thanks for another solid, Shane

Anybody else notice that there seemed to be more playable characters in the trailer than just the six highlighted? There seems to be a Thief-like Rogue in there, and possibly that little Fairy.

Also: God Damn Dat Ass.

Also, there's a trailer for FFXIII-2 floating around. You can tell just by looking at it that Square-Enix really took the criticisms of FFXIII to heart. For example, you know how everyone hated those obnoxious, melodramatic teenaged characters and their angst? Square-Enix responded with MORE MELODRAMATIC TEENAGED CHARACTERS. LOVE THEM. YOU WILL LOVE THIS ARCHETYPE. MORE MELODRAMA. MORE ANGST. LOVE THEM. LOVE THEM.

The main character is named "Noctis Lucis Caelum" so it's not like there was ever hope for the game not to be ratshit

I mean I guess there's Battlefield 3. But they're also there for consoles.

They have not shown ANY footage of the console versions (which are gimped in both the visuals and gameplay department)

I think you might be thinking of one of the other games bearing the Final Fantasy XIII name (Versus and Agito). The main characters in XIII-2 appear to be Lightning's little sister Sera and... Sigh... a guy named Noel Kreiss.

Your point still stands.

Hey. Whoa there. They just figured out that Latin and German is cool.

This pretentious naming scheme isn't evidence of guaranteed failure. Though it is symptomatic of long-lasting disease and distress.

I'm going to go grind for Knights of the Round now. Later.
Not actually going to do that, that's retarded
No, German is not in itself guaranteed failure. You're right.

The inexplicably German-named boy in a Japanese video game loudly proclaiming that he wishes that everyone live in peace, however?

At first I was like, "Oh, these are slightly unconventional character designs! The only character I've seen so far whose chest is significantly bigger than their head is the fighter!"

Then I was like, "DAT SORCRESS"

You've never played a Vanillaware game have you

I just bought Muramasa recently and I basically only play it to watch how pretty it is.

Mostly only Odin's Sphere and I only just started Velvet's chapter, so...
