I do find myself thinking, in the end, "Nice going.  Now
Haly
knows who Batman is."  But really, if you start picking at suspension-of-disbelief on people figuring out who Batman is, it slippery-slopes in a hurry.  (I always loved, in Year One, that Jim figures out who he is pretty much immediately and decides to play dumb.)

Fiancee wanted to know more about Robin's origin following that episode, so I did the sensible thing and fired up Robin's Reckoning.

That is another one that requires heavy suspension of disbelief.  There is no fucking way Tony Zucco gets to the end of that two-parter without sussing out who Robin and, by extension, Batman is.

(Actually, there is one way -- besides "Tony Zucco has brain damage".  She noted that if he killed a lot of people with the whole protection racket thing, there's bound to be more than one college-aged guy with dark hair and a mad-on for him.  I chuckled at this observation and told her the bit from the first Batman Beyond where Powers asks Batman who he is; Terry responds "You had my father killed!" and Powers says "Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?")

Yeah, really quite refreshing that
after all the secrets they just fucking got everything out in the open, no drama.  I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and it all to turn out to be part of Superboy's mindwipe, and was relieved when they went with something else entirely for the twist ending.
I saw a
Brainiac symbol on the tech the baddies were using.  Pretty sure we're dealing with some kind of cyborg Brainiac/Starro here.
Yeah, I've seen...the ones on the CN site (which are like a month out of date) and the ones posted in this thread.  So feel free to keep 'em coming.

Man, and one of the best GL episodes yet, too.

Once again Timm is showing how badly Hollywood dropped the ball.  GL is, potentially, one of DC's greatest, most wildly creative properties; it's a space opera cop drama where anything can happen.

So far the show's been a mix of Voyager and last week's was a heavy dose of Empire Strikes Back, but those are not bad things!

Speaking of Green Lantern, I made this today.

It's dumb.

A very satisfying conclusion on all counts -- drama resolved, everybody all happy and kissy-kissy, and a nice shoutout to the JL toon at the end there.

Perfectly satisfying as a season finale, though of course what with CN's schedule dickery-fuckery season 2 starts next week.  Huzzah!

(Also re: Speedy in the ending: man, there's just something that's always funny about cartoons trying to keep up with recent developments in the comics, only to air months after they've been retconned.)

There's an interesting contradiction between the simplicity of GL's plots and the complexity of its themes.

All the plot beats and twists are obvious, telegraphed, cliche.  But they're really playing the emotional spectrum stuff hard -- the power of fear and hate, what they can do to otherwise decent people; the tragedy of Razer and his inability to escape what torments him.

I mean, it's obvious where it's going -- he'll be wearing a different ring come season's end.  (Green is the obvious choice but I'd rather see him in blue.)  But for all that this show plays obvious plots, there's a real complexity going on underneath.  Yeah, we've all seen this story before -- but it's a pretty good one.

Holy shit
five year time skip?!
. Interesting way to expand the team, and mix up the dynamics pretty drastically from what ended the last season.

EDIT:
Also, Artemis, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Red Arrow completely MIA so far, with no mention. Presumably because it's been five years, and exposition is unnecessary to the point of ridiculousness to the characters
Yeah.  Pretty effin' unexpected.

Fiancee is unhappy; I'm quite happy with it myself.  Course, I know who all these people are.  (Well, most of 'em.  Lagoon Boy?  And I had to look up Mal's name.)

EDIT:
Also, Artemis, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Red Arrow completely MIA so far, with no mention. Presumably because it's been five years, and exposition is unnecessary to the point of ridiculousness to the characters
Well, that and it makes for a Big Mystery for the audience.
Roy's fate
, in particular, is a big dangling unresolved point.

And hey, Tim Curry as
Glorious Godfrey
!  Hope he's a recurring character.  (Still hope someday we get Curry as the Joker...)  Looks like, between him and Mal (who apparently was the Guardian for awhile in the comics), the Apokolips/Cadmus stuff is still percolating.  Which I like, really, the idea that it's a long game.

BTW that guy seems to have most of them.  It's a good page to bookmark since the CN page seems to have just gotten around to posting the FIRST SBFF short.  (The official page also just posted a few that AREN'T on that link, though, including a Teen Titans where they have their terrible 1990's costumes and a second Baby Superman.)

I really think the animators and cast have done a fantastic job of aging Miss Martian and Superboy -- she's more confident and he's less of a dick, and you can tell it in their posture, their faces, and their tone.  Really good stuff; I think Weisman went with a risky damn concept this season but everyone's firing on all cylinders.  (It does bear adding that I am age-appropriate to have been totally in love with Danica McKellar during my formative years.)

I kinda think he was going, "You know, I always have these really long-game plans for my series, and they always get cancelled, so fuck it, I'm just going to skip the middle part and go straight to where I'd be if the show DIDN'T get cancelled in the next four years."

Because seriously, read some of the dude's interviews.  He had like THREE different Gargoyles spinoffs planned, and had a long arc mapped out for Spectacular Spider-Man that would have gone past the five-season limit into direct-to-video movies.

Hooo
Leee
Shiiit

I knew about Aqualad's origins, but I didn't think they'd pull the trigger that fucking hard.
I guess it's Tula who dies in the game? Raising the question of where Artemis, Kid Flash, and Red Arrow have gotten off too
Frankly I'd be surprised if Wally showed up and WASN'T Flash now.

...anyway.  There's a game?  Didn't know.  That's one way of filling in the gap.

I haven't checked out the comic but my understanding is it's overseen by Weisman and is considered canonical with the show, too.
