Frankly I'd be surprised if Wally showed up and WASN'T Flash now.

Well there goes that.

So right before final scene of the latest episode, there's a cat in an alleyway. Seems to imply the writers know what direction they're going with Roy.

Well there goes that.

Yap.  I
am in fact
surprised.

Still,
22 episodes left to go...
Anyhow.  That's the whole team accounted for now, right?  And surprisingly little exposition is required to fill the gap!

So right before final scene of the latest episode, there's a cat in an alleyway. Seems to imply the writers know what direction they're going with Roy.

My fiancee knows enough about Speedy that she was upset by the presence of a cat
and a baby
.

I assured her that a children's cartoon would probably not go that route.  (I think the heroin thing was pretty clearly implied, but it's not going to be anything more than implicit.)  Then again, refresh my memory; Justice League did it, right?

Bets on MYSTERIOUSSHADOWYFIGURE?  He sure seemed to be standing with his arms folded in the last shot, but I don't think he's broad enough to be Darkseid.  And I don't think Darkseid's ever referred to anyone as "Meat" -- I'm wracking my brain trying to think of who does that but the only thing I can come up with is the Nextwave version of Machine Man.  And I'm pretty sure he's not going to be on this show.

Other Thoughts: In last week's episodes, one of the invading aliens made a reference to being attacked by one of the Competitor's warriors.  Best guess is they're referring to the Beetle, which means the Competitor is the Reach.

I still figure the Light is Darkseid, mostly because I appreciate the irony of Darkseid going around calling himself "the Light".  (Actually I think "the Light" is a group, but Darkseid's probably in charge of it.)

I think the shadowy figure guy is probably the "competitor" that the little yellow dudes were talking about that are working with the Light, and will turn out to be the dudes who invented the Scarabs (I think the Ted Kord explanation is a red herring). He certainly appeared to be using exactly the same kind of tech that Blue Beetle was, at any rate.

That'd be the Reach, yeah.

That show is the only reason I know what the aliens who created the scarab are called, yeah.

What? You guys didn't read the original Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle series? It was actually really good and only lasted 36 issues. If you have some free time, take a look.

That's where I got it from, but I couldn't remember their name. At any rate, that's my guess on his associations, given that he used something identical in appearance to how Jaime's energy emissions are always depicted.

And the guy playing the role of Batman in the animated Dark Knight Returns adaptation is: Peter Weller.

 :perfect:

Ariel Winter (who?) of Modern Family (what?) is to voice Robin; Wade Williams will be Harvey Dent and Two Face; and David Selby is set to show up as… dunno. Could be Gordon, maybe?

Man, for a second I read your quote as "Robin Williams to voice Batman".

Superman vs The Elite just dropped, based on What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and The American Way. It has an, I think, intentionally cartoony look compared to earlier DC Animated material, and I'm frankly in love with the opening credits. The look and certain other elements really seel the corn ball Superman we're intended to believe this is, and also serves to make The Elite more menacing when they do start their shenanigans. They also do a better job of making The Elite likable, instead of having them immediately start shit.

Teen Titans Go to be full series.

Seems a little redundant, but what the hell; if they're testing the waters to see if any of those OTHER shorts can go to series then that's great.

Didn't notice that was Weird Al as Animal Man until the Darkseid short.

YOUNG JUSTICE

Not sure how much I liked the episode overall. I'm very glad the show's back and I like that they didn't wrap up the
Roy Harper
arc so succinctly, but I felt the whole thing didn't spend enough time with other characters, given the three months off. That said, the grotto scene was great, and opened up what could be an interesting Batfamily story. Or it could just be a reference. This show is really good, but you really don't ever know which small things will become part of it.
