I say this because I just have this awful feeling that you would actually buy Zeta Project in some form out of pure naive purity and the thought is utterly tragic

Static Shock had some problems, but on the whole it was pretty good. Only episodes I can remember being terrible where when they had "The Super Hoop Squad" and Li'l Romeo show up.
And I just rewatched it all a few years back.

I seem to recall the Backstreet Boys showed up and were somehow also super heroes for some reason.

Also Yao Ming.

Yeah, caught one on the other day where Green Arrow's sidekick joined the team and they had to ward off assassin ninja. It was mighty entertaining!

Yeah, that was last week's.  This week had Superboy and Miss Martian undercover at Bell Reve to stop a supervillain prison break.

Meghan's still not really being used to her potential, but it's getting there, and both eps introduced quite a number of ol' DCU standbys.  (And a Ron Perlman voice, unless I'm very much mistaken.)

You can also tell Weisman's firmly in charge now because both episodes ended with the villains secretly being in cahoots.  I'm not even going to spoilertag that; anybody who's ever seen at least two episodes of Gargoyles knows the villains are ALWAYS secretly in cahoots.

Not ALL the villains were in cahoots with each other. Some villains were also working at cross-purposes to other villains.

Next DCU DTV is Justice League: Doom, a McDuffie adaptation of Waid's Tower of Babel, starring

Quote
Kevin Conroy (Batman), Tim Daly (Superman), Michael Rosenbaum (Flash), Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern), Carl Lumbly (Martian Manhunter), Susan Eisenberg (Wonder Woman) and Bumper Robinson (Cyborg).

So, the JL cast plus Fillion and Robinson (who plays Black Lightning on TB&TB).

I still haven't caught the latest GL one, and I guess Year One is due out in the next few weeks or something?

These should probably have their own thread I guess, except they're split across this thread and the Batman thread and the Wonder Woman thread and...
...
...well, maybe I'll look into it.

The next Batman series has been revealed: Beware the Batman, by executive producer Glen Murakami.  I'm gonna miss TB&TB, but this looks pretty good.  (Professor Pyg!)

Also:
Quote
Along with Beware The Batman, Cartoon Network viewers can expect to see an assortment of other DC Comics content soon including Batman claymation shorts from Aardman Animation (Wallace and Gromit), Plastic Man shorts, Doom Patrol shorts, and Super Best Friends Forever, a series of Batgirl/Supergirl/Wonder Woman shorts by the creator of The Hub's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic animated series. Register also briefly mentioned that Warner Bros. was working on a project with Conan O'Brien's production company, which could mean more Flaming C.

The past 20 years have been fucking great for DC/animation fans.  I read a paragraph like that and I wonder, honest to God, if the best is still to come.

I also wonder why the fuck Warner doesn't put these guys in charge of its comics, but not really.  The cartoons are making them a hell of a lot more money than their comics; why risk losing already-established cartoon viewers in exchange for potential comics readers?

how in the holy cock would you make Damian cartoon-friendly

and so on.

Hell, Teen Titans was featuring Dr. Light as a villain at the same time he was gettin' all rapey up in JLA.

But isn't a big part of Pyg genital mutilation? Pyg feels a lot more like Batman:SVU than Joker or Two-Face.
I was trying to explain Pyg to some people and they said I was just making shit up and that doesn't sound like a Batman villain.

Of course these are the same people who think it's awesome that Alfred shoots guns now.

I don't remember genital mutilation.  I remember taking people's faces off, destroying their identities, and turning them into dolls -- which, while obviously not appropriate for a children's cartoon, has just an obvious pathway toward being sanitized.

I also remember a disturbing Sexy Dance.  Like an even more fucked-up version of that scene in Reservoir Dogs.

Good times.

I could have sworn genital mutilation came right after putting the mask on. That's why he had the power tools, right?
Of course, I've apparently been misremembering things a lot lately.
