Is Eve ANOTHER character with a really dubious benefit that isn't as good as raw damage? Even Isaac's D6 is more of a chore than a tangible benefit half the time... seems to be Cain/Judas or go home.

Eve is interesting. Relative to Isaac, she's down a point of strength, a heart, and a bomb, and her only advantage is a point of speed. She starts with both the Dead Bird and the Whore of Babylon, though.

The Dead Bird deploys when you take damage and lasts until you leave the screen; it attacks enemies autonomously. The Whore of Babylon deploys when you go below one heart and lasts until you leave the floor; it changes your appearance and increases all of your stats (I think by 1 but I wasn't exactly counting).

I'm still not sure how valuable either item is on its own, but together they give you a character who is rewarded for taking damage.

After I killed IT LIVES!, the Devil Room opened up, as well as a pit to the next floor. In the devil room was...a pit to the next floor. Is there any difference? I took the Devil Room pit and it took me to Sheol.

Also I made two deals, on two seperate floors, and Eve didn't unlock.

Also wow, Sheol is nasty. Fucking exploding leeches
The game is lying. You need to make -three- deals with the Devil.
The lack of starting key/bomb really does it for Eve... she's a weaker Cain, has the worst starting damage, and her passives are "rewards" for playing terribly. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
why are we using spoilers

anyway beat the game with 4 characters. I should beat it with ??? before edmund fixes the bug  that
removes the last boss if you have the book of revelations
Presumably some people want to go to the new level and try the new character with hope in their heart an entire day after the update?

And the new items/bosses. It's polite to not spoil surprises.

It'd probably be polite to label your spoilers by what they're talking about. i.e.

Regarding: New weapon named SPOILERS
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Format.

But I pretty cheerfully ignore that rule, so...

re: new character you can abuse her seemingly worse ability by [spoilers]
using faith. It still counts you as at half a heart and you still get the bonuses. This probably isn't worth it unless you're jamming the book of revelations, but something to keep in mind.
[/spoilers]

dead cat always takes all your hearts, making it without a doubt the least useful item in the universe.

fortunately brimstone is so totally broken i beat mom's heart with it anyway.

So uh sometime during the caves the game decided that despite picking up Book of Rev, leaving Book of Shadows behind, I still had Book of Shadows' shield up.

Forever.

So I was totally invincible all the way up to the boss of Sheol.

For unlocking via deals with the devil, you specifically need to get devil powers. I've done two devil trades at one thing before and and 3 over the course of a different game and it only triggered when I got the 666 after getting brimstone or something. Dealing for items doesn't get it done.

You're supposed to take Dead Cat as early as possible while playing Cain or Judas because going from 2 max hearts to 1 max heart in the Basement or Cave is a joke if you get even 1-2 Max HP-Ups from Beggars or Bosses later. Or fuck, just get a bunch of Faith Hearts. Then you use the Dead Cat deaths to buy every other Devil Item for free.

If you hate the Dead Cat maybe you could try not getting hit so often.

Is there anything worse than a No +Damage Run?

*kills self rather than try to whittle down Monstro 2 over the course of 15 minutes*
