Well he's obviously inspired by Egoraptor.

I'm actually not sure why he's using that one. Is Lizardman not in the new game? I say Lizardman because, iirc, he's the only male sword+shield user. (I haven't played forever so I may be wrong)

Lizardman uses dual hand axes now, I believe. He's not a Sophitia analogue at all anymore.

I had to look through the character list, and I found out there is one:

Quote
Patroklos
Patroklos Alexander (パトロクロス・アレクサンドル Patorokurosu Arekusandra?) is Sophitia's son who uses a short sword and a shield like his mother. He knows that he has an older sister and is searching for Pyrrha and his mother. He is the main protagonist of Soulcalibur V. After Sophitia was supposedly killed by malfested, he came to despise them, and has become a slayer of them

I think I realize why he used it though

Here's some video.

Interview with Dark Souls director. Seems we can blame him for the Anor Londo archers.

I never had trouble with those archers, even on the stream I did for #talkingtime it only took me two goes to beat them and the only reason it took the second go was I ran OFF the edge because I was talking about WoW while doing it. I've beaten them probably six times and I always do it the same way. Run to the platform where the gargoyles are, fight them, run up to the middle platform, LOS the archers, wait until they stop firing because they lost sight of you. Sprint up using the right side because the archer from the left has pillars in the way and can't hit you regularly. Charge the right archer, kick him off the ledge, immediately go to the left one, kick or stagger him off the ledge. You're done.

You best believe boy, there's hell to pay.

There are new bosses as well in the PC version, and that should be [probably] enough of an incentive for people to buy it, along with the superior graphics of course. Gamepad will be supported.

Dark Souls is probably my only regret vis-à-vis not owning a current gen console, so I'm pretty chuffed right now.

No wait, there's Skyward Sword too, but much less so.
