Oh, man, that'd be good:

Mechanically: Make him False King Allant. Complete with soul/humanity drain.
But False King Allant, whilst being SO VERY ANIME was also a letdown boss that was waaaay to easy to fight! He telegraphs his shit like it's the 1890s

Internet throwing a shitfit about GFWL like it kicked their puppy.

Really? This is why people think gamers can be entitled whiny shits. I'm not going to defend the GFWL wholesale - it has issues. But they need to realize in order to port a game over properly in the span of five months development time they're going to have to cut some corners. Namely, not re-writing a lot of the net and matchmaking code from what already exists in Xbox.

The fact we're getting it at all is really nothing of a miracle. How many PC games does Namco-Bandai make?

Hahaha. After checking their official website, they don't even have a menu option for PC games.

Man, this is seriously going to have some repercussions if it goes foul from here.

If by that you mean "They won't do another PC game", then yeah. Dark Souls is already a mega-hit for what kind of game it is. They don't actually have anything to lose here.

Bugger. Hope we get to chat a bit with Artorias before throwing down. Perhaps this will reinforce what a dick Kaathe is since he is playing both sides with Frampt.

Hopfully we can get this as DLC for the PS3/Xbox360 as well I would be willing to toss money out for it.

Speculation I got from the Dark Souls Lore videos. Frampt is right next to Kaathe if you go Dark Lord even though Kaathe disses Frampt.
Even if that is false, Kaathe uses and tosses away the other Darkwraiths when they fail. I imagine he will be Jaffar whispering in your ear if you go Dark Lord.

The primordial serpents seem to have their own agenda with regard to the "Dark Lord" the end of the "Age of Fire" and the "Abyss". My guess is that Frampt is there to lure would be heroes into sacrificing themselves to a pyre that won't ultimately be saved no matter how many you throw in there, and Kaathe is looking for their true Dark Lord to emerge from the endless number of candidates.

Remember that all of Lordran is unstuck in time, with events looping back on themselves endlessly. While probably not responsible for it, the Primordial Serpents are probably capable of exploiting it. They will have their Dark Lord, if they wait long enough, and by the same token, all those noble souls who throw themselves into the Kiln of the First Flame to re-link the Fire do them a favor by rendering themselves incapable of challenging that Lord that they await, and of course the fire is going to go out eventually in any case.

If Kaathe is to be believed, the fire was already going out when Gwyn came down from Anor Londo and linked it the first time, meaning we're at the end of what was already borrowed time. if the Dark Soul manifests, bringing about the Age of Darkness/Humanity that Kaathe talks about, it is easy to believe that the Abyss, whatever that actually entails, will be involved, and while it might not be where they come from, the serpents definitely have access to it.

If anyone can get imports, I very much recommend the Design Works. Very nice art and interviews for those Japanese fluent. Youtube video has some one looking over it.

The primordial serpents seem to so on so forth

the lore of Dark Souls gets me hot and bothered cause it's such a fucked up apocalyptic vision

like, here's this nice place, now here's ALL THE WORST THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN, and now here you are, begin your adventure!

in normal fantasy settings, you're trying to prevent the shit that Lordran has already been through

so cool~

Don't forget the two maidens you save.

One after she was already brutally murdered and the other so she can run off and go hollow on her own.

Those blue octopus things all used to be handmaidens of Gwynevere, until Seethe got hold of them. That's what the channelers do. They run around Lodran kidnapping people for Seethe's experiments. Two of them (the blue things), in the back of their enclosure, just sob until you kill them, at which point they drop miracles that only Princess Guard members can cast. You can also find a full set of their clothing in that same area. It's identical to the flame keeper of Firelink Shrine's clothes, except clean.

What I'm trying to say is nothing good ever happens in Lordran.

That just supports my original point. If patches is happy, it can't mean anything good.

Only two who seem to have their heads on straight are Andre and the Golem smith.

All the smiths seem to stay sane, though the sanity of the Giant smith is kind of moot since he's some kind of forgotten servant of the gods whose only purpose is to smith. Ingwald never goes hollow, and you'd think he'd be a prime candidate after guarding the Four Kings prison for fuck knows how long. The Forest Hunters NPCs aren't insane either, unless you consider fanatical devotion to the forest and the hunt to be insane.

Lots of people seem to find a place where they're able to not be totally hollow, and all of the recurring NPCs can, in theory, be saved, but the circumstances are very specific. Sunbro and Onionbro in particular.

I mean, they're all still doomed, but you don't have to watch it happen, necessarily.

I'm not sure Andre is fully aware of what's going on.  Also, you keep bringing him shiny new toys.
