Welp.

Edit: People are already talking about how it might be possible to invade people who aren't in human form.

I'm putzing around with stupid shit. Trying to get Dark woodgrain ring and becoming a Dark Wraith. I've fucked it up a few times, so I had to absolve and try again. And the dude is at the bottom of blight town. Yes, I take the back way, but holy fuck it's annoying.

Dark Souls Prepare to Die: How to Access the New Areas (for RAY!)

Might be handy for anyone who knows the game already but wants to know how to access the new stuff.

I am endlessly miffed that they haven't put in even basic checks to tell if a character is theoretically legit or not. Honestly? I don't care if people cheat to make characters, as long as that character is valid. I do care that they can cheat and make infinitely superior characters though.

Though watch as the community makes a tool that detects the opponent's stats, tries to validate them and if they're retarded, blocks their IP.

I agree, but this is hardly anything new to people playing on the 360.

Which is why I will patiently wait until the new content gets released for the PS3.

I've been playing a bunch with the resolution patch on, and it's pretty damn spectacular, but the game outright crashed at the cutscene for the
gargoyle
boss so I guess there are some rough edges still. I've taken it off and now it works fine, but I probably won't use it again until the next update at least. It's a vast improvement but it's not like the default visuals ruin the atmosphere and design.

Quote
This ring has been nerfed in the Prepare To Die edition (PC), as ninja flips now can only be performed when your equip weight is 25% or below, and has no effect for above 25%

Whoops. Sorry about that whole "killing all of you" thing, Forest Hunters.

Not that I can find anywhere. That seems to be the only thing explicitly stated on the wiki.

Don't know if it's part of the DLC or something about the computer though but aggro follow range is caaaarazy now. Like the first hollows in undead burg following you to Solaire crazy.

Everything else aside, basically everyone I've talked to about it agrees the network is much, much weaker and the game sucks hard for it. Apparently it's also developed a habit for putting you in offline mode with no notice.

Same SL, same covenant, same house, five hours to see each other's signs and quite a while more before getting the connection bad. Personally I had an average of 3 invasions between successfully summons for Anor Londo (new players: Solaire's bonfire there is basically a blanket of summon signs to this day on consoles if you're the right level) and have literally yet to see a single summon sign or be summoned in any of the new content.

In fairness, many people probably haven't made it to Anor Londo.

Same, I've been invaded a fair amount of times but have had zero positive interactions, and the new Arena hasn't worked for me either.

Oh right.

Along with never working, the new arena is standard deathmatch with respawns and most points wins. You find a game by standing still until another person also stands still in the same spot and have less control over who you interact with than any other aspect of the game's multiplayer.

So at least nothing of value is never found to be lost.

I don't run around in human form a lot, I have been invaded three times (won twice wooooo) and had help once (out of the five times I tried to connect ever, though I have seen plenty of signs). I may be speaking as someone who has not played Demon's Souls (only seen it played) or the console versions of Dark Souls (came in completely blind) and therefore might not know what he is missing, but so far I would say the online component has not diminished the extreme amounts of joy I am getting from this game in any way.

Today's new fun fact: crystal homing soulmass wont show up (at least often if not always) if a host casts it before you invade.

Good times!

Back enough on my game to try and do some streaming. I'll basically be attempting to PvP for a few hours but no guarantee of victories or even any action.

Shenanigans with Patito start at an hour and a half (edit: Second half of the original video loaded after). We had really good luck connecting and fun fights, with a few interruptions. I am also inaudible.
