DeS consistently proves itself too awesome to be shut down.

They've been given an indefinite reprieve thanks to the success of Dark Souls making for a huge surge in interest in DeS.

12 minutes of Dark Souls 2. Highlights include torches, actual ass dual wielding, archery on the move, at least when only locked on and using a small bow, and some other bomb ass shit http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/04/10/dark-souls-2-gameplay-reveal-12-minute-demo

EDIT: 10 minute Q&A http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/04/10/everything-you-want-to-know-about-dark-souls-2

He switched to his shield at that point, I believe. In any case, the dude was clearly twinked as hell, holding like five weapons.

Being free on PS+ right now is probably helping a lot too.

Another DaSII video. The director talks, fairly encouragingly, about what to expect from the game. Two things that caught my notice are that while they have no intention of lowering the difficulty they do seem to want to lower the barrier to entry somewhat, and that the story is going to have very little to do with the events of Dark Souls 1, except some connections here and there for the observant player to find. This more or less confirms early speculation that this will not take place in Lordran at all. I was quite distressed by that first magazine interview, but things are looking up with this latest information.

Edit: GameTrailers embedding doesn't seem to want to work. Just, like, go there and find it.

If any of youse are feeling artsy, there's a shield design contest for DS2.

That did that for DaS1 as well. Black Iron, Effigy, and Blood Shield were the winners.

Also, Ask Xanthous King

Also also, from an interview with Yui Tanimura: "We apologise for casually using the word accessible, but please understand that the difficulty will maintain."

Apparently the latest patch borked up the graphics engine on the PS3 version, causing anything with particle effects(bonfires, items, spells, and signs) to flicker and and sometimes turn invisible. My game got hit with it today, and the only thing that makes it go away is going offline. :(

Apparently it has to do with the miracle resonance "fix", which obviously propagates another particle effect into the world, and in doing so they fucked up all of them. I'm glad that feature that even when it works never matters was worked out though, even if you can't see them .

Oh, and it affects bloodstains, too. Have fun trying to find your invisible souls!

It effects all particle effects and decals. Soul signs, blood stains of all types, soap stone messages. Might be a good time to gravelord.

yeah, they patched particle effects associated with miracle resonance, and borked particle effects across the board.  oops.

In terms of actually fighting them though, I think DaS is a step ahead, to the point that these feel easy now.

After clearing the first round of each area* I've only died to Armor Spider and the third time I flailed around like an idiot in front of Fool's Idol trying to figure out what the hints were telling me instead of going and solving the obvious puzzle.  I suspect the bosses in this game just are easy.

tbqh I only really ever die to falls, traps, and general idiocy at this point.  It's really beginning to feel like DeS's legendary difficulty is just due to the fact that players are left to guess at what the hell they're supposed to do without a FAQ of some sort (for those not in the chan at the time, my early introduction was not knowing you could go back and actually gain levels and shit after killing Phalanx, so I took all my souls from 1-1 and drove them all the way up to Tower Knight, who pretty much stabbed me to death before I could tell what was going on.  So I guess that guy killed me too.)

* Oh yeah I'm playing DeS for the first time now forgot to mention.
