Man Outed As Undercover Cop At Occupy Oakland Condemns Police Brutality, Supports The Movement

Good for him.  I don't take back anything I said about the Oakland PD proving itself untrustworthy, but again, there are honest people in every department.

The optimist in me thinks he's probably sincere.  The cynic in me understands why the guys out there getting gassed might not immediately trust the word of an outed undercover policeman.

I live close enough to Oakland that Oakland news is within the purview of our major newspaper. So believe me when I say this: "somebody was shot in Oakland today" is, unfortunately, incredibly mundane news. This would be a non-story if it wasn't in close proximity to the Occupy camp; I would be rather surprised if this was the only Oakland murder this week.

Frank Miller takes another bite of brain on his site. http://frankmillerink.com/

[THAD EDIT to add quote tag.]

Quote
Everybody’s been too damn polite about this nonsense:

The “Occupy” movement, whether displaying itself on Wall Street or in the streets of Oakland (which has, with unspeakable cowardice, embraced it) is anything but an exercise of our blessed First Amendment. “Occupy” is nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousness. These clowns can do nothing but harm America.

“Occupy” is nothing short of a clumsy, poorly-expressed attempt at anarchy, to the extent that the “movement” – HAH! Some “movement”, except if the word “bowel” is attached - is anything more than an ugly fashion statement by a bunch of iPhone, iPad wielding spoiled brats who should stop getting in the way of working people and find jobs for themselves.

This is no popular uprising. This is garbage. And goodness knows they’re spewing their garbage – both politically and physically – every which way they can find.

Wake up, pond scum. America is at war against a ruthless enemy.

Maybe, between bouts of self-pity and all the other tasty tidbits of narcissism you’ve been served up in your sheltered, comfy little worlds, you’ve heard terms like al-Qaeda and Islamicism.

And this enemy of mine — not of yours, apparently - must be getting a dark chuckle, if not an outright horselaugh - out of your vain, childish, self-destructive spectacle.

In the name of decency, go home to your parents, you losers. Go back to your mommas’ basements and play with your Lords Of Warcraft.

Or better yet, enlist for the real thing. Maybe our military could whip some of you into shape.

They might not let you babies keep your iPhones, though. Try to soldier on.

Schmucks.

Don't need to read past this.  Cake is delicious, etcetera.

I could have sworn I read somewhere a while ago that there was a minor kerfluffle in the military because they weren't upgrading iPhones to the current version.

Thanks for quoting that.  I guess I stopped reading a little too early.

Yes, Osama bin Laden is laughing his head off.

OK, I'm starting a bet on how long before Frank Miller makes a post on the Jew Menace.

I left a comment on that blog.

And at some point I'm fairly sure I deleted "San Francisco" and meant to put in "Sacramento", but got distracted and put in "San Francisco" again.  Blame it on having to use every ounce of my willpower to not go full-on ad hominem.

It's tough to remember how to write cogently in the face of the unsightly contusions the man applies to language.

You know, it's somehow reassuring to know that Frank Miller is every ounce as much of an asshole as I ever could have guessed. It would have slightly damaged my worldview if I found out that he was a really likeable, civil guy.

Slightly off topic, I have a friend who works at a comic book store in Toronto that is convinced that all of Frank Miller's wacky conservatism and hate for women are related to the fact that he's a deeply deeply closeted homosexual. I don't know whether that's true, but I'd like to believe it is.

Man, it's actually been a while since we've had a deranged conservative kneejerk rant on here. Neat.

He's gay for Batman, but who isn't?

Punditry seems to be a problem comic writers are specially vulnerable to. Ditko, Sim, Byrne. Warren Ellis is unique in that he actually got -less- preachy over the years (I mean DOOM 2099 jesus). I think it's the natural effect of the contradiction between writing about omnipotent, morally unassailable guardians, and working for a industry marketed for adolescents and pretty much the most sexist business outside of the Catholic Church.

I think it's more that writers tend to be opinionated guys who job it is to, well, write about what they think.

Someone actually put up with Frank's sexism, racism and all-around crusty attitude long enough to marry him?

I think it's fair to say that Frank "Something Worse than Thieves and Murderers" Miller used to be much different than this... this... this something worse than thieves and murderers.
