Vivi frowns but keeps her face hidden behind her mug and follows, hidden behind... I dunno. Gus. Grandpa. Somebody taller and bigger.

Gus would clearly Rather Be Somewhere Else right now, so he's being as inconspicuous as possible himself.

As far as anyone is concerned, Ampersand is somewhere else right now.

A gang of other orcs forms around an old orc with a scar over one eye. He strides fearlessly toward Kazrac.

"Kalor is our chieftain and none other! I think your outsider friends have cast a spell on your mind, young man. When Kalor returns from the dungeon, we will conquer the world and divide it between us!"

Onlookers shout: "Kill him!"  "Stop talking and kill him!"

Gus whispers to Vivi out of the corner of his mouth, "If things get ugly, I'm not about to risk my neck to settle orc politics. If I carry you, my magic can get us away from the melee, at least. You got any tricks you'd share with me?"

Francisca walks forwards, "Hey, you really think Kalor can conquer the world? He's so afraid of a group of outsiders that he sends his own son to be defeated by them, if he was really powerful, he would have come himself and destroyed us before we could do anything. He's hiding from us in his tower. And what are you talking about? Conquer the world and divide it between you? Before you start accusing others of having spells cast over them, maybe you should look at what you're saying."

She points at him. "If we all band together, you can help bring this tribe back to its glory days, not a bunch of slave-taking has-beens. Or you can keep going as you are now, waiting for your boss to come out from hiding from outsiders in a dungeon."

Briar wags her head at the others to follow, and marches beside Francisca with her axe draped over her shoulder.

(come on you guys! :v)

Pitamaha muttered, "Courage, courage..." to the others as he followed. "Show no fear."

The crowd stands enraptured by Francisca's speech.

The old orc looks around at his men.

"The human's right. We've grown fat and lazy. Kalor is powerful, but he's not half the orc Gralluk was."

A cheer of agreement goes up from the older orcs in the crowd.

Kazrac shouts, "What kind of chieftain doesn't even lead his people in a feast?"

The crowd cheers.

"Who will stand with me?"

The whole crowd cheers.

"And now, I will go to the dungeon and take Kalor's crown myself!"

The crowd goes quiet.

"My lord," says one of Kazrac's men, "We all know of Kalor's death magic. He can kill any man by uttering a word."

Kazrac hesitates for a moment, then regains his courage.

"Who is brave enough to stand with me and risk death?"

Francisca is about to step forwards, but she gives Briar a bit of a nudge, encouraging her to go first.

Briar sighs. "This whole thing feels like a setup, Franny," she mutters.

She lifts up her axe again. "We will stand with you!"

Pitamaha said lowly, following with the others, "Are we not each but a wisp of soul carrying a corpse?"

"None of you are braver than these outsiders? Then, when Kazrac returns, he proves himself the bravest orc of the whole tribe!"

He heads toward the tower.

"Briar, Francisca, and Pitamaha. I would be honoured to call you my comrades in arms. Your other three companions can join us if they are brave enough."

Vivi sullenly follows with Briar, probably only visible as part of the group due to her antlers. She is moping... intensely.

Ampersand follows the group with Karzac along, but through the crowd. "You know I bet there's a good reason Kalor 'as been down there so long" he whispers into the groups of orcs still standing mostly silent from the speech. "Maybe 'e really has just gone crazy though. Gotten weak. All the glory of taking him down just for grouping up on an old man."

The orcs don't seem to hear you. They've already gone back to feasting and ale.

"I know you wanna get back to feasting and stuff, Vivi," Briar says as they follow Karzac. "But this is important. Like, end-of-the-world important. And I'd rather face it with you at my side. So, thanks for bein' here." She gives Vivi a big-sis tap on the shoulder with her fist.

Vivi's cheeks begin to warm and "blush", turning from blue-purple into a really deep royal purple. She picks up Rudiger and shoulders up to Briar as they walk towards Bad Guy Tower, trying to stand a bit taller. "Don't worry, Big Sis! If he's... you know, their mystic... well, I'm the Master Wizard. He's about to be shown what-for." Rudiger meows in protest and fidgets... Vivi becomes giggly and grins, dropping him so he can run, then grabbing Briar's forearm and shaking her to go-ad her. "Come on, I'll race you!"

Zoom! Vivi's quite hardy for a stick-thin mud-girl and runs the rest of the way.

Francisca grins and follows along, making sure she's got all her stuff packed away in her backpack. "Hopefully we can get back in time to enjoy the rest of the feast."
