Francisca, now at -7 HP, lets out a loud gasp as the spirit leaves, falling face-first to the floor, laying still and limp.

Oh. Oh dear.

(Briar's at 25hp)

Briar falls to her knees and wheezes, using her axe to hold herself up as she tries to resist the horrible suffocation.

"Franny," she gasps as she sees Francisca collapse. (I'm going to assume what happened to her will happen to Briar.) Ignoring the pain, she crawls over to Francisca and turns her face-up, preparing to use the Breath of Life on her.

Actually, you failed the saving throw, so you only have to pass an Endurance check DC20 or lose a healing surge. On a pass you're okay.

Briar listens to Franny's chest. She's alive, but barely.

"Grandfather!" Briar calls out, her voice sounding hoarse. "Help..." She pulls out the healing potion she'd been carrying, pops the wax seal, and gently pours it into Franny's mouth.

(I have no idea how far away Pitamaha is at the top of the stairs, so I'm gonna roll Perception: 1d20+6 = 16 to hear any of that noise. Better hope the DC isn't too high!)

It's difficult NOT to hear a half-orc shouting from downstairs. All of you hear it.

Kazrac falls to one knee with a pained expression. The spirits fly out as he coughs up blood.

"Vaur'cha damn you, Kalor! And your cowardly traps!"

Pitamaha runs down the stairs as fast as he can (which is pretty fast), removes his turban and wraps it around his face, and wades headlong into the poisonous vapors (Endurance: 1d20+10 = 29, and he started with 51 HP) and pulls his companions out, then tries to hurriedly stabilize them (Heal up to four times: 1d20+11 = 26, 24, 28, and 28, one for each of them.), all the while praying frantically in Supernal.

You manage to stabilize Ampersand.

The spirits fade and disappear. The rune on the door flakes off like dry paint.

Ampersand is on -10HP, but alive. Francisca is on 10HP after the potion of healing (deduct one healing surge). Kazrac and Briar have suffered 48HP damage, but are still alive. Pitamaha suffers no ill-effects.

Cogs clambers loudly down the stairs. "Wow, somebody needs repaired. You guys can fix yourself with with spare parts, right?"

Franciscan sits up, rubbing her chest and looking around wearily for her monocle, spotting it, she pops it back in.

Getting back to her feet, she makes her way over to briar and kazrac, trying to help any way she can.

(will this have any effect on her ability to speak? I mean, she just took a ghost to the lungs.)

You can still speak, but perhaps with a little difficulty.

(Is there any way for me to help everyone heal up without using majestic word or ardent surge?)

Out of combat, you can spend your own healing surges freely, if you're conscious.

(I don't have my character sheet, but I'm fairly sure I picked up a healing potion along the way. And I have a power that gives everyone +4 to healing surges when we rest.

Francisca makes sure briar and kazrac are alright before moving over to ampersand and feeding him the healing potion. With that she slumps against the wall.

"Thankyou." she says, croakily and quietly to briar

Ampersand's back up to 10HP, and it costs him one healing surge.

Ampersand coughs, wheezes, and does a bunch more choking things.

He manages to rasp out "leeeet meeee diiieeeee" before slumping back against the wall and passing out.

Francisca pats Ampersand on the shoulder. "you'll be fine, don't let a door beat you." she croaks

"Hmm. Maybe next time you got a giant ghost-tossing invisible trap rune stuck to a door what needs opening, you oughta let me handle it."

Gus takes another look at everyone.

"Then again, maybe not."
