Francisca shakes her head. "How pathetic. You were only a threat when you had your drones protecting you, now you're running off like a thief in the night."

She draws her new sword, swinging it out towards him, the blade emitting a tune with each movement. the structure jolts a little as a pure beam of white light pierces through the roof, striking sigilus, burning him.

She slides the sword back into its sheathe. "Give up, tell us why you seek what we carry, you cannot escape us, you cannot defeat us, if you cooperate, you may escape with your life."

"Ha! Very well, human. Your doom is inevitable. I see no harm in telling you the truth."

"I serve the Shadow, that ancient, dead god. He hides us, his followers, so that neither magic nor the gods can find us. He waits for us, chained at the end of the world."

"But those pages of the holy book, the Pantheon... they are the light that casts out the Shadow and allows the truth to be seen. They cannot be destroyed, so we keep them hidden, in the secrets hidden by errors that mortals have allowed to creep into the texts over time."

"But our numbers are increasingly few, and we have become impatient waiting for this world to end. We have decided to speed things up a bit. To play with the cogs of time, so to speak. The orc shaman Kalor is our willing pawn."

"For you, it is too late. There is a way to stop it, but it involves the sacrifice of one of your own. I know humankind. You won't do it."

Francisca grins defiantly at Sigilus "If you knew humankind so well, why did you go up against us? You should have known it would end like this."

Pointing towards him, she draws her sword and swings it in the air "Forwards, my friends, First we take down this guy, and then it's Kalor's turn!" Infusing her friends with fighting spirit.

Throw a spare rib at the Duodrone to curse it, move three spaces to maintain concealment, zap at Sigilus with an Eldritch Blast.

Vivi looks shocked when her traditional gun finger point gesture actually produces a tangible burst of angry red energy that crashes into Sigilus from behind with a burst of chicken-flavored smoke.

Pitamaha said, "How can we sacrifice that which was already given to the gods? A fool though thou art, thou hast not miscalculated. May this thought console thee in Hell!"

He walked around the Duodrone contemptuously (possibly provoking an attack of opportunity, but his damage reduction hasn't warn off yet) and attacked Sigilus, evoking an image of an army of martyrs marching behind him under a holy banner. (Spectral Legion augment 0: 1d20+10 = 16, a miss, no effect. Oh well. It was a nice thought, anyway.)

Throwing Sigilus into the pit was feeling more and more like a bad idea. Never mind that he might be able to just float away unharmed from a fall the way he's been moving around, or that Pitamaha would have to go down with him at his current position, but it seemed like the guy had some powerful artifacts on him, and it'd be a shame to see them go to waste down there.

Brushing his sword against the ground, an unusually thick and dark cloud of dust kicks up around Ampersand. (Cloud of Darkness)

Jumping past the now blind and lame Duodrone, Ampersand Strikes out from the darkness at Sigilus. His blade piercing the shaman's side, he twists both of them, tossing Sigilus into the cloud Ampersand had just emerged from with the blade following after him. Grabbing at the darkness, Ampersand pulls something off Sigilus before he slumps to the ground off the short sword.

(Note: I forgot to add CA bonus to both attack rolls so it looks like I failed the second one, so here's a breakdown of my roll bonuses: +5 for dex mod +2 for 1/2 level +3 for weapon mod and +1 for daybreaker's mod = +11 the forgotten +2 CA means even the second roll failure in dicelog hit)

The pinned duodrone flails wildly, striking Pitamaha as he passes.

Pitamaha takes a reduced 5 damage.

The duodrone tears its upper itself off the spectral spear, and what's left of its smashed body immediately stumbles backwards into the pit. Sigilus slumps to the ground in a pool of black blood, leaving Ampersand clutching a steel scroll tube. The chain devil coughs his last words.

"Too late."

The army of modrons marches in from the direction you came. You see them now, dozens of monodrones, marching in from the walkways all around.

Kazrac lets go of Cogs, who seems back to normal, and looks around at the marching drones. "There must be at least a hundred. Well, it was an honour fighting with you."

Suddenly, a shout goes up.

"For Derke Taarsen!"

A stream of dwarven warriors pours down a stairwell and clashes with the modron army. A robed spellcasting dwarf banks force shots off the wall, knocking monodrones into the bottomless pit.

A familiar squad of dwarves hustles over to meet you.

"Thank the gods, you're alive! We feared the worst. The druids' spies tracked you to this tower, but they said that was quite some time ago... nobody's seen you for over two years!"

She raises an eyebrow. "Two years? It doesn't feel that long.. although I have been known to lose track of time."

Ampersand lets out a very forces gasp and presses his hands (well, hand and steel tube) to his face.

"Two years? But dark unknown magics never mess with the passage of time." and under his breath "your wives are gonna' be oooold when we get out of here."

He motions to Vivi with a sideways nod of his head while pulling open the scroll.

"By the way you probably don't have to destroy all those things, this one here is the next-in-command... for... wait a minute."

Realizing the only robots they tricked were a heap of scrap now he twists the scroll around into a tube before he has a chance to read it, and shouts through it. "50979! 27272! I am your new god! OBEY ME!"

Cogs whirs his cogs. "Unit 'Cogs' now at your disposal... Just kidding. Cogs does what he likes!"

The modron army shows no signs of stopping.

"Then you've been down here for the whole two years? A lot has happened in your absence," says one of the dwarves. "The Urk-Ril orcs have moved north to conquer new land - the camp around this tower was long abandoned when we got here. King Taren disappeared last winter and not even the greatest oracles can find him."

A loud slam shakes the hallways. It comes from a chamber down the corridor in the opposite direction to the modron army, and sounds very close.

"By the Hero's beard, what is that? I don't like the sound of it."

"From the timbre of the sound," says the other dwarf, "It's a very heavy, flat-faced stone... rock crystal, perhaps? No, that can't be right, can it? No creature alive can lift something that heavy."

"Stairs lead up to the surface. You can escape that way, if you're quick. But the Berg clan won't run. Our cleric's been running divinations for months now and he's convinced there's an orc shaman down here who's close to unlocking a terrible secret that could threaten all of Rynwold."
