Initiative rolled. The creature moves first, though at the distances here it's not a big deal.

The creature walks slowly toward Briar, as ready to pounce at any moment. (8 squares).

Briar advances 10 squares. You are 32 squares away (about 50 yards).

Pitamaha, your Speed of Thought triggers, and I'll allow Accelerating Strike. Pitamaha advances 19 squares. Pitamaha's movement speed is now 8, and a double-move run will move him 20. You are 273 squares away.

Francisca, Vivi and Ampersand still to take their turns this initiative round.

Distance chart:

Creature 0
Briar 32
Francisca 100
Vivi 100
Pitamaha 273
Ampersand 300

"Ahhh!" Francisca clutches her notebook to her chest and gets up and starts running after briar. "Splitting up is never a good idea! It's how people get killed!" She runs as fast as she can, awkwardly skipping over bushes and tree roots, panting hard, she's not the finest physical specimen around, unfortunately.

Ampersand follows with what he would describe as a "hearty jog" (12 squares)

The creature moves foward. I'm assuming everyone else does likewise that turn, at the same speed, since nobody's within range of anything.

Suddenly the creature bursts into action. It charges at the half-orc with the ferocity of a wolf and the beady stare of a hawk. Muscles ripple beneath its yellowed skin. It lunges at Briar with a bite that could kill a horse, but she dodges. Shoulder-to-foot, the creature stands nearly as tall as a man, and it smells of acrid tree sap up close.

PCs' turn!

"I'm gonna make you into a belt, you cur," Briar snarls, marking the creature. She rams her axe forward...

Quote
Bell Ringer
1d20 +9 >= 16
14 + 9 = 23 ... success

It connects solidly with the beast's jaw, dazing it. "Come on, you tenderfoots!" she calls to her companions. "You wanna live forever?"

Francisca huffs and puffs as she runs, her face going red. "I.. hah.. do! But it's.. hff.. A long wayyyy!", Her heavy backpack adds a lot of inertia, she's worried that she won't be able to stop once she gets there.

Pitamaha, Ampersand and Vivi, your turns left (although there's not much to do except move). Vivi and Ampersand, you can continue to jog at 12, or run all-out for 16 (at combat penalty for one round, but combat is quite far away).

(Assuming Pitamaha continues to psionically enhanced run at 20)

The creature staggers after Briar's blow to the jaw. It opens its mouth and sprays out a sticky, sharp-smelling green liquid over Briar.

Briar takes 15 acid damage.
Briar starts to take ongoing 5 acid damage.

(Rules reminder: Take ongoing damage at the start of your turn, roll the saving throw at the end of your turn.)

(Rules reminder: Dazed means it can only take one action, and you have +2 to hit for Combat Advantage.)

PCs' turn.

I TOLD YOU SIS

I TOLD YOU ABOUT GRUNDLY-LOOS

I WARNED YOU, SIS

Vivi runs again.

(No really are we going to try to overpower this thing and just hope that all the warnings about wardings and proper set-up and shit don't apply if only a few of us die in the successful kill? Not that I mind since I have by far the most powers for literally teleporting the fuck away and being invisible.)

(I just don't want to have to walk too far back to town after Briar dies. Perhaps a sudden instinct to get the fuck away from shit that eats you can replace her need to fight?)

Pitamaha ran ahead wordlessly, treading so lightly that he neither left neither bent grass nor footprints, only a breeze.

[I mean, probably. The power's description doesn't say it makes me untrackable, so I'm just going to apply ridiculous flavor.]

fuk

The burning sensation on Briar's skin is telling her that this was probably not the best idea. She tries a new tactic:

Quote
Knockdown Assault
1d20 +11 >= 16
9 + 11 = 20 ... success

With a sweep of her axe, the beast is knocked prone. Time for a strategic withdrawal.

Francisca still runs like crazy towards Briar, she's built up quite a bit of momentum, and stopping might be a bit of a task. "Ohmygodbriarareyoualright!?", she yells out loudly, gasping for air, trying to get close enough so that she can help Briar with her wounds.

The creature scrambles to its feet (move action) and charges at Briar (standard action, but ends its turn). It pounces, misses, and collides with a tree.

Map updated! Vivi and Francisca are here.

(Rolled Briar's saving throw for the acid. Failed. Briar is still on acid.)

PC's turn.
