(You take ongoing damage at the start of your turn, and roll the save at the end.)

(Briar, Francisca and Ampersand yet to take their turns.)

Briar chases the beast around the altar, feeling the acid singe away the hairs on her skin. Her axe whirls about in her hands, forcing the creature back as it slices the air during her Savage Advance.

Francisca grins and raises one arm in the air, pointing her other hand towards the monster. "It's on its last legs! There's nothing it can do now!

She lets out a loud shout, hitting the monster with psychic energy.

[Hit it for 12 damage, anyone who hits it now gets +4 HP]

Bloodied, the creature opens its mouth to spit more acid... but fails.

It rampages, trampling Briar, then climbing onto the altar to swipe at Vivi. It hits Briar!

Natural 19 - critical hit! (When bloodied, the creature makes a critical hit on 17-20). Briar takes 18 damage.
Briar is on 1HP!
Briar is knocked prone.

(Prone: movement crawls at half speed, -2 attack, grants combat advantage, move action to stand up)
(Tall grass: enemies have -2 to hit prone opponents)

It misses Vivi.

It moves into a precarious position between Vivi and Briar. You currently flank the creature.

It claws at Briar, and misses completely. It claws again at Briar, and misses - just. Its claws slice away the grass tall above Briar.

It spends an action point.

Frustrated, it spins around and snaps a bite at Vivi. Its tail swooshes over Briar as she lies wounded in the grass. It misses Vivi!

PCs' turn.

Briar: if you have any ability that triggers when an opponent attacks somebody else while you marked it, it triggers now.

Briar swings her axe at the creature as it turns to swipe at Vivi. Being ignored pisses Briar off!

Quote
Combat Challenge Attack
1d20 +5 > 15
11 + 5 = 16 ... success

Melee Basic Damage
1d12 +6
10 + 6 = 16

Yeah, she's extra-pissed.

Quote
Furious Assault
1d12 +6
7 + 6 = 13

Briar gets up, swaying a bit from the battering she recieved. "Is- is that it?" she says unsteadily, blood trickling from beneath her armor. "Only a scratch?"

(I hope the critter doesn't explode on death. :v)

Seizing an opening as the creature turns to fight Vivi, your blade slices the creature's hind leg. But as you move in for the final kill, its tail flicks around like a whip and slashes at you with deadly serrated bone blades.

Natural 20 - critical hit!
Briar takes 18 damage.
Briar is reduced to -13 HP.

Briar: The blade slashes your throat and you collapse.

(Rules: Each turn, at the end of your turn, roll 1d20. On 1-10 you get one tick worse; on three ticks, you are dead. On a natural 20 you can spend a healing surge and recover, starting at 0HP and gaining one surge value. If you are reduced to negative your bloodied value of -18, you are dead.)

PCs' turn continues.
Briar, you can take your turn now or wait until later.

The creature has a power that it can make a tail attack when attacked by someone from a flanking position. It uses this after your opportunity attack. This hits (critical hit), and drops you before you can use Furious Assault.

Ah, I see now. Furious Assault deals extra damage to another attack. Technically both your ability and the creature's ability trigger off your hit, but it makes sense for yours to hit first.

However, it's only 1[W] damage and not 1[W]+bonuses damage. That means (unless there's some bonus I've missed) Furious Assault deals only 7 rather than 7+6, so the creature has 5HP remaining.

As it survives, it triggers the tail attack, and still drops Briar.

It now has 5HP left instead of 12HP.

Francisca Sees briar get slashed across the throat, and yells out. "Oh no! Briar!", she furiously points towards the monster. "I am usually against robbing creatures of their freedom, but you would do it to others, so you deserve no such mercy!" She advances towards it, Jabbing her finger towards it. "You useless, murderous, ugly, idiotic beast!"

[Blasting it with Vicious mockery which of course fails because random chance systems suck]

She looks at her finger and realises it's not doing anything. "Well, My friends are more than up to the task of killing you, anyway, you're not even worth my time.", Walking over to the south of the monster, she calls out to Briar, "You'll be alright, we're coming to help you!"

[Hitting briar with Majestic word, She can spend a healing surge for no action and get +4 to it.]

If you heal while on negative values, you recover to 0 first before you add the healing.

From the compendium: "When you are dying, any healing restores you to at least 1 hit point. When you are dying and receive healing, you go to 0 hit points and then regain hit points from the healing effect."

So if you're dying and heal 13HP healing, you're now on 13HP. (This is different from 3e where healing 13HP while on -13 would only bring you up to 0.)
