Bitch School
« on: October 12, 2011, 07:59:37 PM »

Puppy started another barking fit. She's a tiny little dog and two days ago, discovered the apparent joy of yipping. Now, I've complained about my headstuff before so I won't go into it again but wow. I passed out during a yipping fit earlier today and she took the opportunity to bite my ears repeatedly.

Going to run around the block with her again. She can't bark while running. She actually stops moving to bark and then runs forward a bit and then stops. Then she barks. It makes running into other dogs a hilarious hassle.

You need to establish pack dominance and let her know it's not ok. Try holding her by the scruff when she does that or even barking or growling back louder when she does that. Otherwise she has no reason to stop.

I don't understand. Does her voice hit a frequency that causes you to pass out?

I do. I've had a dog before and everyone volunteer's advice all the time. She just really likes barking. So I bark back and that just entices her. She's really playful so scruff grabbing and whatnot are just playing to her. She has fun that way. Vet said "Spritze her with water or a other nonfragrant liquid." That just caused her to pee. Like, right when the water hit her face.

It's the pitch and how loud it is, going on for minutes on end. It makes me dizzy and there's an incredible pain then I wake up and she's biting my ears.

Have you checked to make sure this is an actual tiny dog and not some sort of freakish alien wormhost monster designed to mentally dominate you

She IS a boxer mix and no one seems to want to tell us what the other part of the dog is...

Does she seem to understand that she's done something wrong when you scowl at her?

Are dogs smart enough to get "time outs"?

I am convinced tiny yapping dogs are god's actual punishment for our sins. I have talked to the people who own and profess to love them; they have not actually ever proven to me that they are human and not loose skins filled to the brim with malicious centipedes.

My rule of thumb is that any dog under 15 pounds is basically a cat.

Cats don't yip and have a higher chance of using a litterbox. Most little dogs I hear about just shit anywhere they please. I really don't like dogs.

Puppies yip, small breed or not.  Good dogs grow up to not bark.  But yea most tiny dogs bark even as full grown dogs because they're so small nobody seems to understand the importance of obedience. It's easy to overlook when you can just pick them up and toss them in a cage instead of training them - then they think they're the boss of you and can bark at whatever they damn well please (all things).

It's hard to train a puppy when my father comes home and spoils her, undoing all my work.

Do you use a spray bottle in the face? That even worked on the great dane I was fostering.  Tell your dad to give that dog some discipline. Or use the spray bottle in your dad's face every time he starts to spoil her.
