Guild have you ever considered becoming a preacher?  Many are extremely wealthy and it doesn't matter one lick whether you actually believe in God or not.

It matters to me. Is there such thing as an agnostic preacher?

For the record, I'm actually insane, not just self-diagnosed with autism.

I've had bipolar disorder my entire life. The worst it got was when I was 14 through 16, which are years I don't really remember due to nearly constant psychotic episodes.

I'm not sure what makes me tick. Probably some cocktail of ADD (which I was diagnosed with when Prozac cured everything), Aspergers, and Autism, with an OCD garnish.

Catloaf: antidepressants most definitely cause side effects that include loss of sexual interest.  And oh, it's a pretty common side effect.  They only treat sex offenders with it sometimes, huh.  Duh.  Wellbutrin and Zyban are the only antidepressants that don't cause that side effect, and they're actually used to treat sexual dysfunctions, which is verrrry interesting.

And I know I've read in textbooks and heard in lectures that they sometimes use antidepressants for OCD, as well as a number of other random drugs.  I didn't say it's the only thing they use for it.

LD, I've heard reports of the opposite, too.  I've got friends who, when they're on certain things, want to bone everything in sight.

I'm always interested to read about how people actually feel when they're on drugs meant to fix their brains.  I know enough people who are/have been on medication that it seems like a valuable thing to know about.  Haven't got much to contribute personally, as I've never been on any kind of medication either for a mental or physical condition, because I am the very picture of human health.

jesus christ that was a long sentence i need to go take a nap now.

Taking the MMPI back in grade school revealed that I'm pretty damn sane in every regard, barring some borderline paranoia, which was probably perfectly reasonable in the face of shit like having to take the MMPI in grade school.

The first thing that came to mind, in case you haven't read it.

Apparently my ability to focus is somehow compromised.

And I've never read about lack of sex drive before.  The bad side effects of medicine really are not common, but you can't tell if you'll get 'em unless you try the drugs.  Everyone's brain chemicals react differently.

That last part about everybody's chemicals reacting differently is pretty brutal. As I understand (and have experienced), most SSRIs are shots in the dark. Two pills that are chemically nigh-identical can bring about completely different sets of side effects. I've seen people run the full gamut of label warnings.

Catloaf: antidepressants most definitely cause side effects that include loss of sexual interest.  And oh, it's a pretty common side effect.

And since personal stories count for more than scientific evidence ( ::D: ), that part about loss of sexual interest is certainly truth.

Oh yes, testimonials are surely the way to go when deciding what drugs to take.

It felt weird. I would constantly be half-throttle. Like I could feel my energy picking up, and my hyperness growing, but then suddenly, inexplicably, it'd just start dying, like the tank sprung a leak.

I do wonder sometimes.  I kind of hate the world too much to go out and get yet another crappy job, like I kind of need to do.  I can't decide if it's "depression," or a perfectly reasonable side effect of working ten+ shitty, stressful jobs for idiot bosses over the past six years.

OCD and Tourette's, when I was in grade school.

SSRIs can indeed cause a reduced sex drive, and let me tell you: it's made my life a fuckton easier.

While a lot of people suffer a loss of sex drive, a friend of mine actually suffered the opposite on zolaf, gaining a heightened sex drive.  In addition to actually masturbating more, the length of his masturbation increased as well and he claims it also made his orgasm FANTASTIC.  So I don't.

The statistically best way to determine how happy you'll feel in a certain situation is to ask someone how they feel when they're experiencing that situation.
