Everything I have heard is "Horrible F2P system" and "Buggy Mess." Give me a reason these are incorrect. I really want to play a Tribes game. Oh, also tell me that this plays like a tribes game. Also tell me if this is out of closed beta.

Edit: Oh yeah, I went to register for it and I saw global agenda up there at the top and closed the window. That is what happened a while ago when I remembered that there was a new tribes game. Heh, must have blocked that out.

The only bug I've encountered is the map distorting when I alt tab, which is immediately corrected when I respawn. Also, the game was recently put through a *major* overhaul.

And I don't know who told you about the F2P system being terrible, but it's actually really well thought out. There are upgrades for each class that are only really for things like "get more maximum ammo for this gun" that can *only* be earned with experience points that you get from playing the game, and anything you can buy with gold can also be earned with the same experience points. Spending $10 on gold will get you 800 points. Consider it's 160-200ish gold to unlock a new class, and you have one class of each armor type already so you can be really effective right out the gate in most situations.

I AM FLYING AROUND THE MAP LIKE A GOD!

Holy crap it is amazing to ski across the map with the enemy flag while spinfusor disks are landing all around you. I got three flag caps in one life, and died dropping the flag on our flag.

My opinion went from:

1: Hmm I picked soldier where is my fucking spinfusor*.
2. Okay this skiing stuff isn't that special oh hey this grenade launcher can kill people like nobody's business.
3. AHAHAHA YOU FUCKERS DON'T KNOW HOW SKIING WORKS DO YOU [flies through the enemy base, grabs the flag, skiis back to base backwards killing the guys on the bike chasing me]

*The pathfinder does have a spinfusor.

Yeah, that's basically how it works. Until you fuck up and lose your speed and feel the deepest pain you've ever felt in your life.

Just dropped some actual dosh for enough gold to kit out my Soldier  how I want with a bit left over for playing. Man, this game is so fucking fun. I really want them to succeed with this thing. Practically every game generates some kind of "so there I was" sort of story.

So there I was, guarding the flag as a Soldier after just completing a flag run, when I see some pathfinding sandraker skiing like a boss toward our base, getting ready for the pick-up. So I jet straight up into the air and slam a spinfusor shot right in front of the flag. The splash catches him full on, stopping him cold, and leaving him dazed enough for me to pick up the easy follow up for the kill. Ain't no dirty sandrakers touching my flag.

I wish I could make time for this game between all my insane bullshit. I've actually got a pretty good mind for the trajectory calculations, but there are so many other games to play.

However, I know I can't avoid a game I can waste real money on for too long.

I looked at the tags for the video and started laughing again.

Holy shit those fucking tags

The video is also incredible. It's horrifying what 4chan's infection support can do for a game.

Spent a few games this evening as a doombringer with the Unlocked weapons and mines. One doombringer can really keep any number of bullshit fast pathfinders off  the flag if he's doing his job right. However it really depends on the map how easy your job is going to be. A full speed sanic fucker will destroy himself flying through one of the barriers you put up - especially if you put up a mine underneath it. Most of them are too reckless to spinfusor the area before they land.

The ones that are however are generally people who are going to get the flag no matter what you do. They're in and out and you don't even see anything but a goddamn blur after they clear the pad with an airstrike or spinfusor. At that point I fire off a shot at a 50/50 chance I've done the trajectory math correctly, and after that I set up my defenses for the next round. Chasing after them and heading to the enemy base is goddamn pointless. shazbot.

My personal play of the night was bodychecking someone at full speed a couple feet from the flag then point blanking them with the heavy bolt weapon.

TLDR; Actual Doombringer gameplay

The old tribes clan descriptions from Tribes 1.

I now know why they are called dirty sand rakers.

Additionally, I realize what Doombringers should get for an alt secondary weapon:

ELF - the ELF turret is a larger version of the Electronic-Flux Projector. It drains energy from its target, and even, unlike the handheld version, drains health if there is no more energy to drain. Although it can cut mobility down to a minimum, the ELF is generally avoided because of its short range and difficulties with fast targets.

I ran across the jackal for the first time today, and whoever thought that this weapon was a good idea in Tribes is an idiot, and whoever decided that it ought to be on the fucking stealth class should be shot in the fucking face. Here's a video of a dude, using the gun for the first time, not even really trying.

I camped a gen pretty soundly the first game I used it. However I didn't use it as an airburst. I think if they removed that functionality the weapon would be A-okay.
