A good first step to balancing it would be making the grenades have to adhere to something before they could be detonated.

the sticky grenades are a lot more powerful than i thought they would be, it's like lobbing C4 around

Oh, totally. Sticky grenades are the reason to use the class. They do a straight 3K damage to generators and turrets each. Also, you get a new grenade each pill bottle pickup before perks! If you get looter, it's pretty much MURDER TIME FUN TIME

Jackal damage and knockback while using it as airburst reduced by 50%. I think that's a pretty good compromise.

Apparently I've been playing Doombringer wrong by not using the Chaingun.

Whoops.

Yeah, you're supposed to soften them up on the way in and on the way out.

My old deal was body check them then point blank with the crossbow. However a full upgraded chaingun is pure death:

Tribes: Ascend - Crytical's Doombringer Tutorial

A bit dated but it gets the point across.

I also have no sound on this computer so I don't know if it has bad music but I assume it does.

It actually has voice over. The advice is good, though the perk system is completely outdated. You can still get those perks, but you don't have trees like that anymore. Perks are just purchased from a pool of primary and secondary perks, and once unlocked can be used by any class. Like everything except the cosmetic skins, they can be purchased with gold or exp, and only upgraded with exp.

The takeaway for me was that a class called "Doom Bringer"  is not really good at bringing and instead should stay at home.

Yeah, he's more of a Doomkeeper, in case you need any Doom, and you're not sure where to look. The other two heavy classes, Juggernaut and Brute probably would have been better choices for names, particularly the former, which ironically has a giant fusion mortar and has raining what could be called doom from on high as his major goal.

I feel like nothing else in the game brings more Doom than the MIRV launcher. They need to switch the names up:

Juggernaut -> Doombringer (Artillery rains doom)
Doombringer -> Brute (For some reason "Brute" better fits the idea of body checking motherfuckers who come in for your flag and using a chaingun)
Brute -> Juggernaut (Unstoppable with Shield pack and heavy spinfusor)

Played a game this morning that was incredibly laggy. My ping was fine as was everyone elses but it just seemed to stutter a lot and it was awful. Related to the new patch maybe?

This game has a level of excitement, just due to the speed and almost total lack of hit scan that makes for the most "fuck yeah!" moments per round I've seen in a long time. I just played three games in a row, and all of them had some pretty rad moments, but I'll just relate the last one because it was totally clutch.

I can't say exactly everything that was going on around our flag stand, because it was utter fucking chaos. I do know that an orbital strike had been used recently, and there were dirty sandrakers crawling all over the place skirmishing with our defenders. Our flag carrier is coming in for the last cap, and we've just secured our flag when he goes down. The flag bounces just right so I happen to be lined up to jet in and ski through it and into our own flag for the winning cap. On my way to the flag I see an enemy light fucking blasting toward our flag, directly opposite me. In the space of about a second I fired my spinfusor, killed the enemy light, grabbed the enemy flag and made the cap.

I was doing ok during the round, mostly running interference in the mid-field, or defending our generator, but I just happened to be perfectly lined up for that last sequence, and it felt so good.

I've actually grown quite fond of the Gravcycle even though it drives like butter. It's probably because I only play the heavy classes and being somewhat fast feels good for a change.

Also running people over is fun.
