Well that's the problem isn't it. They just didn't expect to get so many episodes so they made the first batch as exciting as possible and had it wrap up all neatly. Hell, now we'll actually have to watch Korra and Mako's relationship, I'm not looking forward to that let me tell you.

Hey, with this many more episodes available to them, maybe they'll finally have time to actually give Mako a characterization above and beyond "the inevitable boyfriend"—and if they can avoid doing it at Bolin's expense, so much the better!

Quote
Finally, we see Korra encounter a spiny spirit in the Southern Water Tribe. He's spiny and wicked, like one of Miyazaki's darker creations. The creature moves with lightning speed, pinning Korra to ice. She enters Avatar State to whip fire and water at the beast, but he tunnels underground and escapes. Conflict with the Spirit World is already shaping up to be the show's big conceit.

Ha!

still, 10/10 would bang

(In all seriousness, this is the best Korra cosplay shot I've seen.  The facial expression is perfect.)

As the title of the season suggests, Korra will also be visiting the Spirit World in future episodes. While the creators mentioned that additional appearances from Avatar Aang are still possible, they also revealed that they have something special planned for Book Two. "We have one of the most flashback-y of flashbacks coming up," said DiMartino. "We have something in store. We don’t want to give it away quite yet. It seems like we always do some kind of flashback episode or sequence, something like that."

What happens in the Spirit World stays in the Spirit World.

On the Ziiro-is-slow-as-fuck front, I am finally watching the Last Airbender. Holy shit, this is truly amazing stuff. Animation, story telling, characters.. It really is hard to believe this was on Nickelodeon. I am in serious awe about it.  I assume Legend of Korra is of the same caliber?

It may be better. Though now that I think about it, I say that because I felt like Avatar had a bit more fluff to it than Korra, and I'm not sure that's true.
I guess it's time to marathon this shit and/or make it a drunking game.

No. Still good, though.

Korra's definitely better.  Tighter, more complicated story, with opportunity to really get into one setting.  It's like an entire series that is just the Ba Sing Se episodes, which were easily the best part of Last Airbender.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

Whether you think Korra's better than the original depends largely on what you like about the original.  Korra's get a more sophisticated storyline, better artwork and animation, and almost every supporting character is amazing; Airbender shows you much more of the fantastic world it takes place in and probably has more interesting protagonists.  TA pretty much boils it down - Korra is twelve episodes of Ba Sing Se and nothing else, which is either good or bad depending on how you feel about Ba Sing Se.

Also, it's only had one season so far, so there's that.
